Role Description The Kitchen Cook is a full-time, on-site role based at Columbia Asia Hospital in Johor Baharu. This role is responsible for preparing, cooking, and plating meals according to hospital standards, dietary requirements, and food safety guidelines. Daily activities include following standardized recipes, ensuring proper portion control, and maintaining cleanliness and hygiene in all kitchen areas. The Kitchen Cook collaborates with dietitians and other team members to support patient, staff, and visitor meal services, including special diets and culturally appropriate menus. • Experience in cooking, preferably in a hospital, healthcare, or large-scale food service environment.
• Knowledge of food safety, hygiene standards, and basic nutrition.
• Ability to follow standardized recipes, manage portion control, and operate common kitchen equipment safely and efficiently.
• Strong time management and organizational skills to handle multiple orders and meal schedules in a fast-paced environment.
• Effective communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with kitchen staff and clinical teams in a respectful, service-oriented manner.
• Attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness, including adherence to infection control, sanitation, and hazard prevention practices.
• Basic literacy and numeracy; vocational training or certification in culinary arts or food preparation is an advantage.
• Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays as required by hospital operations.
