1. Perform powder coating according to drawings, work instructions and customer specifications.

2. Prepare parts before coating, including degreasing, cleaning, phosphating, rinsing and drying where applicable.

3. Check parts are free from oil, rust, dust, welding residue and contamination before coating.

4. Perform proper masking and plugging of threads, holes, grounding points and non-coated areas.

5. Set up and operate the powder coating spray gun, booth and curing oven.

6. Adjust spraying parameters such as voltage, air pressure and powder flow to achieve consistent coverage.

7. Apply powder evenly and control coating thickness according to drawing/customer requirements.

8. Verify the correct powder type, colour, RAL/Pantone requirement, batch and finish before use.

9. Control curing temperature and curing time according to the powder manufacturer's specification.

10. Inspect finished surfaces for orange peel, pinholes, bubbles, contamination, uneven coating, exposed metal, scratches and colour variation.

11. Measure coating thickness using a coating thickness gauge and record results when required.

12. Carry out adhesion or other coating tests according to customer requirements where applicable.

13. Handle coated parts carefully to prevent scratches, dents and surface damage.

14. Segregate and report non-conforming parts and perform touch-up/rework only when approved.

15. Maintain proper powder identification, batch traceability and storage.

16. Perform colour change and booth/gun cleaning to prevent cross-contamination between colours.

17. Maintain powder coating equipment and report equipment abnormalities promptly.

18. Follow required PPE, chemical-handling, oven and powder-spray safety procedures.

19. Maintain good 5S and housekeeping in pretreatment, spraying and curing areas.

20. Coordinate with Quality for first article, colour, appearance and coating-thickness approval before mass production.

21. Support other sheet-metal fabrication and assembly activities when required.

Preferred Requirements

Experience in manual powder coating of sheet-metal parts is preferred. The candidate should understand surface preparation, masking, spray-gun adjustment, coating thickness, oven curing and cosmetic inspection. Experience coating SPCC/mild steel and aluminium and performing colour changes is an advantage.

Pay: RM2,500.00 - RM3,000.00 per month
