Software Manager/ Engineering Manager

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Software Manager to lead a team of software engineers in designing and delivering scalable, high-quality digital solutions.

You will provide both technical and people leadership, overseeing the full Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) and ensuring that engineering teams follow best practices across software architecture, development, testing, deployment, DevOps, and security.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing software engineering team, fostering collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
• Own the end-to-end delivery of large-scale software projects, ensuring quality, timely execution, effective risk management, and alignment with business objectives.
• Provide technical direction throughout the SDLC, from solution design and development through testing, deployment, and ongoing enhancement.
• Drive adoption of modern software engineering practices, including Gen-AI, CI/CD, code reviews, automated testing, and engineering standards.
• Oversee the design and development of scalable web and mobile applications, microservices, and enterprise platforms.
• Lead the design and implementation of APIs and system integrations, ensuring reliable connectivity between applications and enterprise systems.
• Promote effective cloud and DevOps practices, including automation, deployment, monitoring, scalability, and reliability.
• Ensure security-by-design principles are incorporated throughout the software development lifecycle and that solutions comply with enterprise security standards.
• Work closely with Product, QA, UX/UI, Infrastructure, business stakeholders, and external partners to manage dependencies, risks, priorities, and release planning.
• Monitor team performance, project progress, delivery metrics, and key technology initiatives, providing regular updates to senior management.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and identify opportunities to improve software development practices, engineering efficiency, and digital capabilities.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of software architecture, development standards, processes, and engineering practices.

Job Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
• 10+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 3+ years in software management, engineering management, or technical leadership.
• Proven experience leading and developing software engineering teams in a large-scale enterprise or technology environment.
• Strong understanding of the full SDLC and modern software engineering practices.
• Strong technical knowledge of web applications, mobile technologies, microservices, APIs, and enterprise application architecture.
• Demonstrated experience with system integration and API development in complex enterprise environments.
• Good understanding of cloud and DevOps practices, with experience across technologies such as AWS, Azure, Docker, Jenkins, or equivalent platforms.
• Experience driving the adoption of AI/Gen-AI within software development would be advantageous.
• Strong understanding of security-by-design principles and secure software development practices.
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies and tools such as JIRA, Confluence, or equivalent.
• Excellent communication, stakeholder management, problem-solving, and organisational skills.
