Finance Manager @Moxy Melaka
1. Pre Opening & Finance Setup
- Set up the hotel finance function, systems, policies and internal controls
- Establish chart of accounts, reporting structure and finance workflows
- Prepare pre opening budget and monitor expenditure against approved budget
- Coordinate banking, payment facilities and financial system setup
- Ensure finance readiness before hotel opening
2. Budgeting & Financial Planning
- Lead annual budget, forecast and financial planning
- Monitor revenue, operating expenses, payroll and departmental costs
- Prepare cash flow forecasts and funding requirements
- Work closely with department heads on budget control
- Highlight financial risks, variances and corrective actions to management
3. Accounting & Financial Reporting
- Oversee daily accounting and month end closing
- Ensure accurate P&L, balance sheet and cash flow reporting
- Prepare monthly financial reports for management and owners
- Review journal entries, reconciliations and supporting schedules
- Ensure financial reports are accurate and submitted on time
4. Accounts Payable & Payments
- Oversee supplier invoices, payment schedules and payment processing
- Ensure payments are supported by approved PO, PR and relevant documentation
- Monitor outstanding payables and supplier accounts
- Maintain proper approval controls and payment documentation
- Work closely with Purchasing on supplier and payment matters
5. Accounts Receivable & Revenue Control
- Monitor guest, corporate and other receivables
- Ensure timely billing, collection and credit control
- Review daily revenue, rebates, refunds and adjustments
- Monitor ageing reports and follow up overdue accounts
- Ensure all hotel revenue is properly recorded and reconciled
6. Cash, Banking & Treasury
- Manage hotel cash flow and daily banking activities
- Monitor bank balances and prepare bank reconciliations
- Maintain petty cash, cash handling and banking controls
- Ensure sufficient funds are available for operational requirements
- Maintain proper control over hotel cash and financial assets
7. Tax, Audit & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with Malaysian tax and statutory requirements
- Coordinate SST, tax submissions and other regulatory reporting
- Liaise with auditors, tax agents, banks and relevant authorities
- Support internal and external audits
- Ensure compliance with Marriott financial policies and controls
8. Procurement & Cost Control
- Work with Purchasing and department heads to manage operating costs
- Review purchasing, inventory and cost control processes
- Monitor food, beverage and operating supply costs where applicable
- Ensure purchases are within approved budget and authority limits
- Identify cost saving opportunities without affecting hotel operations
9. Internal Controls & Asset Management
- Maintain strong financial controls across hotel operations
- Safeguard hotel assets, inventory and cash
- Maintain fixed asset register and oversee asset verification
- Ensure proper segregation of duties and approval authority
- Investigate financial discrepancies and control weaknesses
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of finance or accounting experience, preferably in hospitality
- Hotel pre opening experience is strongly preferred
- Degree or professional qualification in Accounting, Finance or related field
- Strong knowledge of budgeting, financial reporting, taxation and internal controls
- Hands on, detail oriented and able to work independently
- Marriott or international hotel experience is an advantage
Reports to: General Manager
Works closely with: Hotel Owners and all Department Heads
Salary Range: RM5,000 to RM8,000
Pay: From RM5,000.00 per month
