JOB SUMMARY
The Site Manager acts as the Owner’s site leader, providing oversight for all construction and commissioning activities for a large-scale CCGT power plant. He provides leadership for a team of multi-disciplinary experts of the Owner and Consulting Engineer to manage, monitor, supervise, inspect, witness, and verify the work of contractors to ensure the power plant is constructed safely, on schedule, and to the highest quality standards, in strict compliance with international engineering codes and project requirements (approved design). He reports to the Owner’s Deputy Project Manager.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage all site operations including overseeing EPC and Non-EPC contractors’ work.
- Work with the HSE Manager to promote a safety culture on site, ensure proper implementation of Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) management system, review Site specific HSE plan submitted by the EPC Contractor to ensure it meets EHS requirements for a Project of this nature, in line with best practices and Malaysian regulatory requirements, and enforce strict adherence to HSE requirements and regulatory compliance.
- Manage the interface between EPC and Non-EPC work scopes to maintain schedules of all Interfaces between the different scopes and at project boundaries. Organize and lead Interface Meetings as necessary to support the successful project implementation.
- Organize and run the Site Weekly Meeting and prepare meeting minutes in the format approved by the Project Management.
- Provide regular site updates and information to the Project Manager for monthly reports.
- Lead and manage interdisciplinary site supervision teams (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, and I&C) of the Owner and the Consulting Engineer
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree (or alternative), or higher. Major in Mechanical, Electrical, or Control & Instrument Engineering or associated field.
- Minimum 15 years of experience in power plant construction and/or commissioning, with preferably at least 5 years specifically in a site management or deputy role for CCGT or thermal power plant construction. Alternatively, a background in senior operation and maintenance role on a CCGT or thermal power plant.
- Proven track record of managing multi-disciplinary teams and EPC contractors across civil, mechanical, electrical, and I&C packages in complex project environments.
- Experience in O&M of CCGT power plant and/or holding a valid ICE Engineer/ Steam Engineer Certificate is considered a strong advantage.
- Strong knowledge of international design and construction standards (e.g., ASME, ASTM, IEEE, IEC, ACE)
- Proficiency in project scheduling software (e.g., Primavera P6, Microsoft Project) and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Strong communication skills with proficiency in English.
