A Turnaround (TA) Planning Engineer for Rotating Equipment in the Bintulu oil and gas sector plans, and Primavera P6 / Microsoft schedules for overhauling critical machinery like compressors, turbines, and large pumps during plant shutdowns.
Key Responsibilities
- Scope Development: Define and freeze detailed work packages for special purpose rotating machinery (centrifugal compressors, steam/gas turbines, critical pumps, and gearboxes).
- Scheduling: Build and optimize shutdown master logic networks and activity schedules using Primavera P6.
- Resource & Material Forecasting: Estimate man-hours, specialist vendor support, heavy lifting needs, and spare parts (mechanical seals, bearings, rotors) required for execution.
- Cost & Risk Management: Monitor turnaround planning budgets, track milestone progress, and participate in Hazard Identification (HAZID) or risk assessment sessions.
Key Requirements
- Degree: Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
- Experience: 5+ years in oil, gas, or petrochemical plants, with specific turnaround (shutdown) and overhaul experience.
- Local Compliance: Familiarity with PETRONAS or DOSH standards.
- Machinery Knowledge: Deep hands-on background with gas turbines, centrifugal/reciprocating compressors, heavy pumps, gearboxes, and blowers.
- Work Packaging: Ability to build detailed job safety analyses (JSAs), work scopes, and material work packs for mechanical overhauls.
- Resource Estimation: Competence in calculating man-hours, heavy lifting equipment needs, and specialized tooling for tight turnaround windows.
- Scheduling Tools: Strong working knowledge of Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project for critical path scheduling.
- ERP Systems: Proficiency in SAP PM (Plant Maintenance) or MM (Materials Management) for parts reservation and requisition.
- Procurement: Tracking long-lead spare parts, equipment kits, and contractor service requisitions
