We are looking for a Quantity Surveyor (M&E) to join our team and support the commercial management of corporate office interior fit-out and Design & Build projects.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the cost planning, tendering, procurement and commercial management of M&E works, working closely with our Business Development Managers, Designers, Project Managers, M&E Engineers and Consultants.
Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed cost estimates, budgets and cost plans for M&E works, including electrical, ACMV/HVAC, plumbing, fire protection and ELV systems.
- Review and analyse tender drawings, specifications and project requirements.
- Prepare quantity take-offs, measurements, BQs and cost estimates for M&E works.
- Obtain, evaluate and negotiate quotations from M&E subcontractors and suppliers.
- Prepare and maintain project-specific cost formats and commercial documentation.
- Monitor project costs and prepare cost monitoring reports to track project financial performance.
- Review design changes and client instructions and revise cost estimates accordingly.
- Evaluate, prepare and negotiate variation orders (VOs) for M&E works and ensure timely submission and approval.
- Work closely with Designers, M&E Engineers, Project Managers and Consultants to align cost plans with design and project delivery requirements.
- Visit project sites to gather information, verify quantities and assess actual site conditions where required.
- Work with the design and project teams to identify value engineering opportunities and update costing accordingly.
- Attend tender interviews and respond to cost and commercial clarifications when required.
- Issue purchase orders based on approved vendor quotations and Project Manager confirmation.
- Verify subcontractor/vendor claims and assess project costs and margins prior to payment processing.
- Handle M&E subcontractor accounts and final accounts.
- Support the project team on commercial, procurement and contractual matters.
Requirements
- Diploma/Degree in Quantity Surveying, Building, Construction, M&E Engineering or a related discipline.
- Minimum 5–8 years of relevant QS experience, with strong experience in M&E Quantity Surveying.
- Experience in M&E contracting, interior fit-out, renovation or Design & Build projects will be highly advantageous.
- Good knowledge of electrical, ACMV/HVAC, plumbing, fire protection and ELV systems.
- Strong understanding of tendering, costing, measurement, cost planning, procurement, progress claims, variations and final accounts.
- Able to read and interpret M&E drawings, specifications and tender documents.
- Good commercial awareness and understanding of project costs and margins.
- Strong negotiation, communication and coordination skills.
- Able to work independently and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
Experience in corporate office or commercial interior fit-out projects will be highly advantageous.
Candidates with experience in both M&E and Builder’s Works / Interior Fit-Out will have an added advantage.
