CMU OmniClear Limited (CMU OmniClear) is a wholly owned subsidiary of CMU OmniClear Holdings Limited, which is jointly owned by the Exchange Fund (as the majority shareholder) and Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (as the minority shareholder). It carries out the operation and business development activities of the Central Moneymarkets Unit (CMU) on behalf of the HKMA. Director (Product Development)
Key Responsibilities
Reporting to the Head of the Product Development, this role leads the end-to-end product strategy and lifecycle for our post-trade services.
Strategic Roadmap & Commercial Leadership: Define and execute the long-term product roadmap for multi-asset post-trade services, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and international market priorities. Conduct rigorous market assessments to identify trends, regulatory shifts, and competitive gaps. Drive sustainable revenue growth by developing robust financial business cases, competitive pricing, and compelling value propositions that secure internal investment and accelerate market adoption.
Product Lifecycle & Innovation Management: Lead the complete product lifecycle from idea validation and design to launch and ongoing enhancement. Proactively identify new business opportunities across international custody, securities financing, and asset servicing to uncover untapped revenue streams. Balance client demand with operational feasibility to ensure seamless execution, while monitoring key performance metrics (adoption rates, transaction volumes, satisfaction) to drive continuous, data-led improvements.
Cross-Functional Partnership & Regulatory Compliance: Partner closely with Operations, Technology, Risk, Legal, and Compliance to design secure, efficient, and scalable solutions. Ensure all product designs strictly adhere to Financial Market Infrastructure (FMI) expectations and regulatory standards, mitigating risk while maintaining operational excellence. Foster a culture of collaboration to effectively manage complex stakeholder relationships and deliver strategic outcomes that balance commercial impact with safety.
Stakeholder Engagement & Change Management: Leverage an extensive network of clients, intermediaries, and industry bodies to validate product concepts and gather market insights. Coordinate end-to-end change delivery for new or enhanced services, overseeing testing, documentation, and training initiatives to ensure client readiness. Minimize disruption and maximize speed-to-value by leading communication strategies for both internal teams and external clients during launches.
Requirements
University degree in Finance, Economics, Business, Engineering or a related discipline.
At least 8 years of experience in securities services, post trade, custody, transaction banking, collateral or treasury, market infrastructure or capital markets product roles, with a proven track record of delivering complex initiatives.
Comprehensive understanding of capital markets, securities products and post trade processes, including the roles of Central Securities Depositories (CSDs) and custodians in settlement, safekeeping and asset servicing.
Familiarity with market practices and regulatory frameworks across key global and regional markets.
Ability to translate client and business needs into product requirements, operating models, and service blueprints.
Strong project management capabilities, including experience leading product initiatives from design through implementation.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to collaborate across functions, such as operations, IT, compliance, clients and service providers.
Strategic thinker with a practical mindset, comfortable balancing long-term vision with executional details.
Candidates with supplementary experience and qualifications will be considered, even if they do not meet all of the specified requirements above.
