About the role
Bell Plaster & Building Supplies is an Australian-owned building materials supplier serving trade, residential and commercial customers across Victoria, Australia.
Our ecommerce business is entering its next stage of growth, with thousands of products across the business and a major opportunity to make more of our range easier to discover, research and purchase online.
We’re looking for a hands-on, highly organised and detail-driven Ecommerce Coordinator to work closely with our Ecommerce Manager and take ownership of the day-to-day execution behind our online store.
Your initial focus will be expanding and improving our Shopify catalogue, with the role progressively growing into website merchandising, digital content, campaigns, SEO, reporting and ecommerce optimisation.
This role suits someone who learns quickly, notices small details, enjoys solving problems and is always looking for a smarter way to work.
What you’ll be doing
Shopify & Product Catalogue
- Create, enrich and maintain Shopify product listings including titles, descriptions, specifications, imagery, pricing, variants, tags, metafields and product types.
- Research product information using supplier websites, technical datasheets, catalogues and trusted sources.
- Verify product information before publication and resolve conflicting information using the most authoritative source.
- Upload technical documents, warranties and supporting product files.
- Manage collections, categorisation, navigation, filtering and product taxonomy.
- Assist with Shopify CSVs, bulk updates and catalogue-data cleanup.
- Identify missing products and incomplete product information.
Website Merchandising & Optimisation
- Maintain collection pages, promotional content and website merchandising.
- Improve product discoverability through collections, filters and site search.
- Conduct regular desktop and mobile website QA.
- Identify broken links, incorrect content, layout issues and other website problems.
- Support testing and rollout of website improvements.
- Troubleshoot straightforward Shopify issues and escalate more technical problems where required.
Digital Content & Creative
- Source and prepare high-quality supplier-approved product imagery.
- Optimise product images for consistent ecommerce presentation.
- Create and adapt website banners, promotional graphics and digital assets.
- Support image editing using Photoshop, Illustrator, Canva or similar tools.
- Maintain organised digital assets and consistent brand presentation.
Marketing & Campaign Support
- Assist with website promotions, product launches and supplier campaigns.
- Support email marketing campaigns and automated customer journeys.
- Help prepare digital and social content.
- Assist with Google Ads and Meta Ads execution, creative preparation and reporting.
- Support SEO improvements across product and collection pages.
- Assist with Google Shopping and product-feed quality.
Reporting & Process Improvement
- Monitor ecommerce performance using Shopify and other analytics platforms.
- Assist with reporting on products, traffic, sales, conversion and customer behaviour.
- Maintain ecommerce documentation, checklists and SOPs.
- Track catalogue progress and outstanding work.
- Liaise with suppliers and internal teams for product information and digital assets.
- Identify repetitive processes that could be simplified, automated or improved.
What we’re looking for

- Experience with Shopify or another ecommerce platform.
- Exceptional attention to detail.
- Strong written English.
- Strong organisational and time-management skills.
- Comfortable working with spreadsheets and structured product data.
- Able to research information across multiple sources and determine which source is most reliable.
- Fast learner who is comfortable learning unfamiliar systems and software.
- Proactive and able to take ownership of recurring work.
- Comfortable using modern AI-assisted and automation tools while maintaining human verification and accuracy.
- Strong communication skills.
Highly regarded
- Shopify product, collection, variant and metafield experience.
- Excel or Google Sheets experience.
- SEO knowledge.
- Google Analytics experience.
- Google Merchant Center or product-feed experience.
- Email marketing or CRM experience.

- Photoshop, Illustrator or Canva experience.
- Basic HTML and CSS.
- Shopify Liquid or basic JavaScript knowledge.
- Website QA or frontend troubleshooting experience.
- Experience managing large product catalogues.
- Building materials, hardware or construction industry knowledge.
You do not need building materials experience on day one. The ability to learn products quickly, verify technical information and maintain accuracy is more important.
How we work
We use modern technology, automation and AI-assisted workflows where they improve productivity.
These tools can accelerate research, content production, QA and repetitive tasks, but they do not replace judgement. Product information must still be verified before it is published.
We value people who question questionable information, check their work and look for better ways to complete repetitive processes.
What success looks like
- More of our product range becomes available online accurately and consistently.
- Product information is complete, reliable and easy to understand.
- Catalogue work becomes faster without sacrificing accuracy.
- Products become easier to discover through Shopify, search and Google.
- Website campaigns and updates are delivered accurately and on time.
- Ecommerce processes become more documented, repeatable and efficient.
- You progressively take ownership of more ecommerce execution as your capability grows.
Why join Bell Plaster?
This isn’t a role where you’ll spend every day copying information from one system into another.
You’ll work directly with the Ecommerce Manager and gain hands-on exposure across Shopify, merchandising, SEO, digital marketing, analytics, creative production, automation and website optimisation.
There is significant scope to grow with the role as our ecommerce operation expands.
If you can take a messy supplier catalogue, identify the information that matters, turn it into a clean Shopify product page, check every detail and then think about how to make the next hundred products faster and better, we’d like to hear from you.
