Centre for Oncology and Immunology Limited
The long-term objective of the Centre for Oncology and Immunology is to employ novel functional screens, animal and cell models including organoids, immuno-oncology approach, as well as advanced genomic and proteomic techniques down to single cell resolution to identify novel “druggable” cancer targets for hard-to-treat malignancies. The ultimate goal is to develop therapeutics against these targets and to conduct clinical trials evaluating these drugs along with biomarkers with an eye to their eventual commercialization worldwide. Success in this venture will address pressing unmet medical needs and establish Hong Kong as a leading hub of innovative anti-cancer and immuno-oncology drug development.
Job responsibilities:
Applications are invited for appointment as Assistant IT Manager (Ref.: 104232), to commence as soon as possible, on a fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance and mutual agreement.
The appointee is expected to provide day-to-day end-user technical support (both software and hardware) and troubleshooting services to researchers and admin team of the R&D Centre. He/She will be responsible for providing IT technical/audio-visual support to Centre’s events and should be familiar with video conference solutions (Microsoft Teams and Zoom). The successful candidate will be required to:
• IT Infrastructure & Systems Management: Oversee, maintain, and optimize core IT infrastructure—including but not limited to office IT assets, Linux servers, internal network, VPN/SSH, Microsoft 365, NAS, cloud resources, and comprehensive backup and disaster recovery environments.
• Technical Support & Operations: Troubleshooting, day-to-day IT support, and technical consultation to researchers and administrative staff, ensuring minimal downtime and seamless operations.
• Cybersecurity & Compliance: Implement and enforce cybersecurity controls, vulnerability management, endpoint protection, identity and access management (IAM), and robust data privacy policies.
• AI Infrastructure & Training: Partner with research teams to provision, manage, and optimize the high-performance computing (HPC) infrastructure for training, fine-tuning, and maintaining in-house AI models.
• Production AI Applications: Lead the deployment, integration, and operational support of production-grade AI applications.
• Website and Application Management: Oversee website operations, and drive the development and maintenance of in-house applications.
• Event & AV Support: Coordinate technical requirements for Centre events, seminars, scientific meetings, and hybrid video conferencing platforms (e.g., Microsoft Teams, Zoom).
• Stakeholder Engagement & Documentation: Act as the primary liaison with internal teams and external vendors, while producing clear user training materials and technical documentation.
• General Duties: Undertake other ad-hoc IT projects and duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications and skills:
• AI & Infrastructure Engineering: Demonstrate hands-on experience provisioning, managing, and optimizing high-performance computing (HPC) environments, GPU clusters are required.
• AI Applications & Production Systems: Practical expertise in designing, deploying, and supporting production-grade AI platforms, intelligent agents, and AI orchestration and harness system. Comprehensive understanding of ReAct agent loop is required.
• Technical Stacks: Proficiency in Python and modern AI/ML frameworks (e.g., PyTorch, TensorFlow), alongside solid working knowledge of vector databases, enterprise foundation models (open-source and commercial), and cloud-based AI deployment tools like Docker. Knowledge of web and application development technologies such as PHP, Laravel, JavaScript, HTML5, CSS3, SQL, and RESTful APIs is desirable.
• Core IT & Systems Management: Expertise in enterprise-level IT infrastructure administration, cybersecurity protocols, cloud resources, backup/disaster recovery, and full-stack application development.
• Leadership & Collaboration: Strong communication and project management skills, effectively communicate with internal and external stakeholders.
