About the role

We are seeking an Accounts Assistant to join the finance team at S.E.S Construction Sdn. Bhd. This is a full-time position based in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. In this role, you will provide essential support to our accounting department, assisting with the day-to-day financial operations of our construction business. This position is crucial in ensuring accurate financial records and supporting the smooth functioning of our finance operations.

What you'll be doing

• Processing and recording financial transactions, including invoices, receipts and payment vouchers

• Maintaining accurate and organised financial records and documentation

• Assisting with accounts payable and accounts receivable functions

• Preparing bank reconciliations and assisting with cash management activities

• Supporting the preparation of financial statements and reports

• Data entry and maintenance of accounting systems and databases

• Assisting with payroll administration and related tax documentation

• Performing general administrative duties to support the finance department

• Coordinating with other departments to resolve financial and billing enquiries

• Supporting the senior accounting staff with ad-hoc projects and duties as required

What we're looking for

• Qualification in accounting, finance or a related discipline (SPM, Diploma or Degree level)

• Basic knowledge of accounting principles and practices

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel

• Experience with accounting software and systems

• Strong attention to detail and accuracy with numerical data

• Excellent organisational and time management skills

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

• Good communication skills, both written and verbal

• Reliability, integrity and a professional approach to work

• Familiarity with construction industry accounting practices (preferred)
