岗位职责

Who We Are:

  • Some of the companies under our stable include Private Equity (licensed by the Securities Commission), Digital Marketing, Recruitment, Esports, Event Management and Consultancy.

  • We care about understanding things for what they are, and not what they appear to be. We know we will not always make the right decisions, but we put in the effort to make our decisions right.

  • We value people who are curious, disciplined, and open to learning. We care about doing things properly, even when it takes time.

  • Our companies follow the same principle: practical, thoughtful, and built for people who appreciate steady, honest work.

Role Overview:

  • You will own the numbers across a portfolio of companies operating in Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia, and you will lead a finance team of seven.

  • This is a build role before it is a maintenance role. The team is new. The systems are not yet in place. Your first year is about putting them there: one standard chart of accounts across every entity, a close calendar that actually holds, a review process that catches errors before they travel upward, and consolidated numbers that arrive on time and can be relied upon.

  • If you are looking for a seat where the structure already exists and the job is to keep it running, this is not that role. If you have wanted to design a finance function properly rather than inherit somebody else's compromises, and you are comfortable working in ambiguity while you do it, this is that role.

  • You will report directly to our CEO, with nobody in between.

Your Team:

  • You will have a team of seven: three Senior Finance Executives, two Finance Executives, and two interns.

  • This being a new role in an expanding organization, 4 of your reports arrive without a long track record. Teaching is therefore not a side duty in this role. It is half of it.

What You Will Do:

1) Team leadership and technical development.

  • Lead, teach and develop a team of seven across three levels of experience.
  • Review your team's work technically, not only for completeness. You are the reason errors stop travelling upward.
  • Build the training path that takes fresh graduates and interns to competence, and set the standard for documentation, self-checking and knowing when to escalate versus when to decide.

2) Financial reporting, close and consolidation.

  • Own timely and accurate monthly and annual closings across your portfolio of entities.
  • Deliver consolidation and management accounts, including intercompany eliminations and a documented shared-services allocation methodology.
  • Build and hold a close calendar with named owners and committed dates, and design a documented, repeatable consolidation process.

3) Financial operations and internal controls.

  • Manage daily finance operations including treasury, banking, working capital and cash visibility.
  • Design and enforce internal controls: segregation of duties, approval thresholds, bank authorization, and a formal review step inside the team.
  • Standardize the chart of accounts and reconciliation discipline across entities.

4) Compliance and statutory reporting.

  • Liaise with auditors, corporate secretaries and tax agents across Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia so that statutory reporting is complete and on time.
  • Bring audit file preparation in-house, so that auditors audit rather than prepare.
  • Maintain a master statutory calendar built backward from every deadline with realistic lead times.
  • Document and execute intercompany and transfer pricing positions, and support regulatory reporting for our licensed entity alongside compliance and external counsel.
  • Retain oversight of payroll across jurisdictions, including our outsourced Indonesian provider.

5) From year two.

  • The role broadens into financial planning and analysis, budgeting and decision support as the build work completes.
  • Ad hoc assignments, special projects and business presentations as required.

Who You Are:

  • A Bachelor's Degree, Post-Graduate Diploma or Professional Degree in Finance, Accountancy or Banking.
  • A professional qualification (ACCA, CIMA, CPA or MIA). Finalists will be considered where the remaining papers and dates are clear.
  • Minimum 8 years of relevant experience.
  • Full ownership of month-end close and a complete set of accounts across more than one entity. Single-entity experience will not be sufficient for this role.
  • Demonstrated people management, including at least one concrete example of reviewing another person's work technically rather than only allocating it.
  • Fluency in a cloud accounting platform.
  • Advanced Excel, including multi-entity consolidation modelling.
  • Statutory reporting and audit liaison experience, having prepared rather than only responded.
  • Working knowledge of Malaysian indirect tax and withholding tax, with the instinct to recognise when a tax question exists.
  • Proficient in verbal and written English. Bahasa Malaysia is preferred.
  • Highly detail oriented, with the time management to hold several close deadlines at once.

Extra Credits:

  • Experience with Xero specifically.
  • A shared services or outsourced accounting background, servicing multiple entities or clients.
  • Experience designing or rebuilding a chart of accounts, or cleaning up a set of books that had drifted.
  • Intercompany reconciliation and transfer pricing documentation exposure.
  • Multi-jurisdiction experience, particularly Singapore or Indonesia.
  • Exposure to regulated financial environments such as capital markets, funds or professional services.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, strong interpersonal and communication skills, comfort working both in a team and independently, and adaptability to tight deadlines.

What kind of culture should I expect?:

  • A fun and enjoyable working environment that values humility, a positive attitude, teamwork and creativity, alongside a strong desire for growth and learning.
  • Our team is comfortable being called out if something does not meet standards, with little offence taken personally.
  • Our progressive management initiates self-evaluation exercises, culture days, team alignment sessions and town halls.
  • We appreciate guidance and mentorship, and actively foster a supportive environment for our team to grow and develop their skills and expertise.
  • We enjoy free parking, pantry restocks, regular team-building activities and company trips, amongst others.

What should I expect from work?:

  • You will be working directly with our CEO, an award-winning entrepreneur who will be personally involved in mentoring and guiding you.
  • You will be given real responsibility from day one in a fast-growing company. Expect a steep learning curve and to be challenged to bring out your best.
  • You will enjoy this role if you take satisfaction in a backend function that is genuinely load-bearing, and in building something that outlasts your own involvement in it.
