Job Summary

The Mechanical Technician is responsible for carrying out maintenance, repair, overhaul, installation, trouble shooting, and alignment of pumps, motors, chillers, cooling tower equipment, and other rotating machinery. The role includes bearing replacement, mechanical seal replacement, chiller shaft seal replacement, precision shaft alignment, and ensuring all HVAC and chiller systems operate safely and efficiently.

Pump Maintenance and Overhaul

·      Dismantle, inspect, repair, and reassemble chilled water, condenser water, and centrifugal pumps.

·      Replace bearings, sleeves, wearing couplings, gaskets, and mechanical seals.

·      Perform complete pump over haul sand testing after repairs.

·      Troubleshoot vibration, noise, overheating, leakage, and performance issues.

Bearing Replacement

·      Remove and install pump and motor bearings using proper tools and methods.

·      Check bearing fits, clearances, lubrication, and shaft condition.

·      Identify root causes of bearing failures.

Mechanical Seal Replacement

·      Replace mechanical seals on pumps and rotating equipment.

·      Inspect seal chambers, shafts, sleeves, and seal faces.

·      Conduct leakage checks and commissioning after replacement.

Shaft Alignment

·      Perform laser alignment and dial indicator alignment on pumps, motors, fans, and chillers.

·      Correct soft foot and misalignment conditions.

·      Document alignment readings and reports.

Chiller Maintenance

·      Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on water-cooled and air-cooled chillers.

·      Replace chiller shaft seals and carry out alignment of associated equipment.

·      Inspect couplings, shafts ,bearings, and drive assemblies.

·      Assist in shutdowns, overhauls ,and commissioning activities.

Troubleshooting and Inspection

·      Diagnose mechanical faults and recommend corrective actions.

·      Conduct routine inspection of HVAC and chiller plant equipment.

·      Prepare service reports and maintenance records.

Safety Requirements

·      Follow all safety regulations ,risk assessments, and permit-to-work requirements.

·      Use proper PPE and maintain good housekeeping practices.

Qualifications & Skills

·      ITI, NITEC, Diploma, or equivalent Mechanical Engineering qualification.

·      At least 2 to 5 years experience in pumps, chillers, HVAC, or rotating equipment maintenance.

·      Skilled in bearing replacement ,mechanical seal replacement, pump overhauls, and shaft alignment.

·      Ability to read drawings and use precision measuring instruments.

·      Good teamwork, communication, and troubleshooting skills.
