The Merchandiser is a key driver of commercial performance within the Merchandising, Planning & Buying team, translating data into decisions that shape range strategy, stock health and trading outcomes. This role goes beyond reporting and data accuracy: we're looking for someone who takes ownership of problems end-to-end, communicates confidently across departments, and proactively surfaces risks and solutions before they're asked to. You will act as a trusted connector between Merchandising, Buying, Production, Marketing and Operations, ensuring the business moves fast and stays aligned as it scales.
-
You take initiative - spotting issues, gaps or opportunities in the data and range before they're flagged to you, and proposing solutions rather than waiting to be told what to do.
-
You communicate clearly and confidently, translating data into insight for non-Merchandising stakeholders, and representing the team's priorities in cross-functional conversations.
-
You own your outcomes, from SKU accuracy to WSSI actuals, you take accountability for the quality and timeliness of your work, and you follow through.
-
You solve problems across department lines, bringing Marketing, Production, PD and Ops together to resolve intake, timing or stock challenges, rather than escalating every issue upward.
Sales Analysis, Reporting & Strategic Insight
-
Prepare regular and ad-hoc sales reports and analyses, going beyond the numbers to provide clear, actionable recommendations.
-
Build and automate templates and dashboards, and proactively identify better, faster ways for the team to access and interpret data.
Assortment Planning, Buying & Purchase Order Management
-
Create and maintain accurate SKUs, ensuring all product attributes are set up correctly and consistently ahead of launch.
-
Raise and manage Purchase Orders accurately and on time, owning the process end-to-end and following up proactively with suppliers and internal teams to keep intake on track.
-
Check supplier invoices against Purchase Orders, and proactively flag any cost price increases or discrepancies to the Head of Merchandising with a recommended course of action.
-
Recommend new product pricing in line with the established Price Architecture, flagging any inconsistencies or opportunities for review.
-
Evaluate historical sales performance and research market trends to contribute meaningfully to "Lessons Learnt" and future product strategy.
Inventory, OTB & Trading Calendar Management
-
Actualise the Weekly Sales, Stock and Intake (WSSI) to support effective stock management.
-
Track deliveries and product launches, ensuring the flow of newness aligns with the Trading Calendar and raising timing risks early.
-
Monitor stock availability, proactively identifying potential issues and proposing mitigating actions.
-
Analyse sales trends to identify risks and opportunities within the range, and bring these forward with a recommended course of action.
-
Propose markdowns in line with planned discount spend for each clearance cycle.
Product Data Ownership & Governance
-
Own the accuracy and completeness of product attributes across all Merchandising and Product information.
-
Act as the owner of the brand's SKU Master, holding other departments accountable for maintaining their respective inputs and resolving discrepancies proactively.
Cross-Functional Collaboration & Communication
-
Partner with Marketing and Web teams on promotions, launch campaigns and product recommendations, building strong awareness of the marketing push schedule and flagging intake risks with suggested alternatives.
-
Work closely with Production and Operations to communicate stock intake priorities and facilitate timely, well-reasoned decisions on production and intake challenges.
-
Collaborate with the Product Development team on redevelopments, coordinating updates clearly across all relevant teams.
-
Support the Buying function with product information gathering and sample tracking, working closely with suppliers to keep timelines on track.
-
Ensure timely, accurate and proactive dissemination of product information across the different business stakeholders anticipating what each team needs to make good decisions.
-
Provide administrative support to the Merchandising team as needed.
-
Strong analytical skills with fluency in Excel/Google Sheets; comfort building and automating reporting tools.
-
A self-starter who takes initiative and ownership, and is comfortable identifying problems and proposing solutions without being asked.
-
Excellent communication skills — able to simplify data for different audiences and build trust with stakeholders across departments.
-
A collaborative, solutions-oriented mindset, with the confidence to bring departments together to resolve challenges.
-
High attention to detail and a strong sense of accountability for accuracy, deadlines and follow-through.
