Job Summary

The Assistant Engineer will support the implementation and maintenance of the company’s Quality Management System (QMS) in accordance with ISO 9001 standards, with a strong focus on ensuring alignment between documented procedures and actual yard operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Department Alignment & Coordination (Primary Function)

• Work closely with all departments across the yard to ensure daily operations align with approved procedures

• Act as the bridge between QMS requirements and ground execution

• Identify and resolve gaps between documented processes and actual practices

• Drive consistency and standardisation across departments

• Process Review & Improvement

• Review and update departmental procedures and workflows

• Work with stakeholders to revise processes for practicality and compliance

• Ensure procedures reflect real operational conditions

• Internal QMS Audits (ISO 9001)

• Conduct internal audits based on ISO 9001 standards

• Identify non-conformities, gaps, and improvement areas

• Follow up on corrective and preventive actions (CAPA)

• Subcontractor (Subcon) Audits

• Conduct audits on subcontractors to ensure compliance with company QMS and project requirements

• Evaluate subcontractor performance and quality standards

• Follow up on corrective actions and improvement plans with subcontractors

• Documentation & Control

• Maintain and update quality procedures, work instructions, and forms

• Ensure proper document control practices are followed

• Support standardisation of documentation across departments

• Quality Report Preparation

• Support in prepare periodic quality reports for management review

• Analyse trends in non-conformities, audit findings, and corrective actions

• Provide insights and recommendations for improvement

• Digital Application Power User

• Act as a power user for company quality-related digital systems and applications

• Support departments in the use of digital tools for QMS processes

• Audit Preparation & Support

• Assist in preparation for external audits (certification bodies, clients, classification societies)

• Ensure departments are audit-ready and aligned

• As-and-when instructed by the Section Manager

Key Requirements

• Good understanding of ISO 9001 requirements and audit processes

• Preferred to have some familiarity with yard operations and cross-department workflows

• Able to coordinate across multiple departments and resolve practical issues

• Good communication and stakeholder engagement skills

• Detail-oriented with a practical, ground-based approach

• Comfortable using digital tools and systems for quality management

• Meticulous with documentation

Diploma in Engineering or Quality Engineering & Management
