Role Summary
UST is looking for an experienced Physical Design Manager to lead end-to-end ASIC/SoC Physical Design projects while remaining actively involved in technical execution. The role combines hands-on physical design expertise with project leadership, customer engagement, and team mentoring.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and execute physical design activities from floorplanning to GDSII signoff.
- Drive timing closure, CTS, routing, SI, IR/EM, power, and physical verification closure.
- Manage project schedules, deliverables, risks, and resource planning.
- Serve as the technical focal point for customers and internal stakeholders.
- Conduct design reviews, resolve technical challenges, and ensure signoff-quality results.
- Mentor engineers and drive methodology, flow, and productivity improvements.
- Collaborate with RTL, DFT, Verification, and other cross-functional teams.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering or related field.
- 10+ years of ASIC/SoC Physical Design experience.
- Proven experience leading and delivering Physical Design projects.
- Strong hands-on expertise in floorplanning, P&R, CTS, STA, timing closure, SI, IR/EM, and signoff flows.
- Experience with advanced technology nodes (7nm and below preferred).
- Proficiency in industry-standard EDA tools such as Innovus, ICC2, PrimeTime, Tempus, Voltus, and Calibre.
- Scripting knowledge in Tcl, Perl, or Python is a plus.
- Strong project management, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred
- Experience leading geographically distributed teams.
- Exposure to low-power design methodologies (UPF/CPF).
- Experience with complex SoC, AI/ML, networking, automotive, or HPC designs.
