Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Senior Software Engineer – Core Applications with strong expertise in Life Insurance Core Policy Administration systems, particularly LifeAsia / Life400 and COBOL/400 programming.

The successful candidate will act as a subject matter expert for Core Application initiatives and will be responsible for technical solutioning and delivery across product launches, customer acquisition, policy servicing, post-launch enhancements, and integration with surrounding applications.

Key ResponsibilitiesCore Application & Engineering Delivery

• Oversee Core Application deliverables for product launches, post-launch features, customer acquisition, servicing, and middleware integration.
• Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Core Application-related initiatives.
• Develop and deliver engineering solutions for Product Sales, Customer Acquisition, and Servicing solutions.
• Work across Core Applications such as LifeAsia / Life400, CCM solutions, Underwriting Engines, Workflow, and Middleware Integration with Front-End / Mobile applications.
• Lead the technical delivery of assigned tasks and projects.
• Provide technical guidance and support to junior IT team members.
• Finalize appropriate technical solutions based on business requirements.
• Recommend suitable solutions for issues and challenges faced by users.

Technical Solutioning & Architecture

• Work closely with Business Product Owners, Tech Delivery Leads, and technical team members to define technical designs for:
• Product launches
• Post-launch product feature development
• Enhancements
• New project initiatives
• Contribute to the overall Policy Administration System architecture and design.
• Provide best-practice guidance, technical patterns, and solution recommendations.
• Ensure technical solutions effectively meet business requirements and delivery objectives.

Stakeholder & Business Collaboration

• Partner with Business Product Owners to support Product & Proposition targets and Customer Service deliverables.
• Build strong relationships with Delivery Leads, Engineering teams, and business users across the organization.
• Engage with stakeholders and clearly articulate technical solutions across teams.
• Work effectively in a cross-functional and collaborative environment.

Insurance Domain & Industry Knowledge

• Maintain strong knowledge and understanding of insurance industry requirements and critical business processes.
• Maintain awareness of the latest developments and changes within the Insurance and Financial Services industries.
• Apply relevant industry knowledge to support and recommend appropriate solutions for business and user needs.

Delivery & Release Management

• Manage assigned tasks and commitments effectively to meet agreed timelines.
• Maintain strong awareness of environment management, release management, code versioning, and deployment methodologies.
• Support integration and deployment activities across Core Applications and surrounding systems.
• Ensure delivery is aligned with Agile / Iterative delivery methodologies.

Requirements

• Deep understanding of Life Insurance Policy Administration features and functionalities.
• 5+ years of experience in the Insurance / Financial Services industry.
• Minimum 5 years of experience supporting Core Policy Administration systems, particularly LifeAsia / Life400.
• Minimum 5 years of COBOL/400 programming experience on LifeAsia / Life400 applications.
• Strong knowledge of surrounding applications, including:
• Underwriting Engines
• Front-End / Mobile Applications
• Workflow Applications
• Sales Portals
• Customer Servicing Applications
• Good experience with Omnichannel Integration.
• Strong understanding of environment management, release management, code versioning best practices, and deployment methodologies.
• Experience integrating Core Applications with surrounding applications such as Sales Portals, Workflow, and Underwriting Engines.
• Experience with application integration middleware such as MuleSoft is an advantage.
• Strong understanding of Agile / Iterative delivery methodologies.
• Solution-oriented and pragmatic mindset.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Very good conceptual and analytical skills.
• Strong motivation and ability to identify opportunities for process automation.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a cross-functional and collaborative team environment.

Education

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
• Professional certifications in CRM, CCM, Cloud, or Agile are preferred.

Preferred Candidate Profile

Candidates should have strong hands-on experience supporting LifeAsia / Life400 Core Policy Administration systems, combined with COBOL/400 development experience and solid knowledge of the surrounding insurance technology ecosystem.

Experience working with Life Insurance products, policy servicing, product launches, customer acquisition, underwriting, workflow, and integration with front-end/mobile applications will be highly relevant to this role.

Pay: $4,408.75 - $10,000.00 per month
