The Malaysian Oil, Gas & Energy Services Council (MOGSC) is the largest industry association representing the interests of the oil, gas, and energy services sector in Malaysia. Established in 2003, MOGSC has more than 600 corporate and associate members spanning the industry supply chain and representing tens of thousands of professionals.
MOGSC’s core mission is to promote, create awareness, and elevate the profile and visibility of its member organizations. The Council actively engages with industry stakeholders, government agencies, associations, and business partners to support the development and growth of Malaysia’s oil, gas, and energy services industry.
Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site internship opportunity based in Kuala Lumpur. The Intern – Industry Engagement & Operations will support the MOGSC Secretariat across member engagement, events, communications, research, and day-to-day operations.
The intern will gain practical exposure to how an industry association operates and how MOGSC engages with companies, government agencies, industry leaders, partners, and other stakeholders.
Key responsibilities include:
- Assist with the coordination and execution of MOGSC events, seminars, meetings, networking sessions, and industry programmes.
- Support event preparation, including registration, participant coordination, invitations, attendance tracking, materials preparation, and post-event reporting.
- Assist in maintaining and updating member and stakeholder databases, records, and contact information.
- Support membership-related activities, including responding to basic enquiries, preparing member communications, and following up on administrative matters.
- Assist in preparing emails, newsletters, announcements, social media content, and other communications to MOGSC members and stakeholders.
- Conduct basic research on the oil, gas, energy, and business sectors and compile information into simple summaries, presentations, or briefing materials.
- Monitor relevant industry news, events, announcements, and developments for internal reference and member communications.
- Assist the Secretariat in preparing meeting materials, minutes, presentations, reports, and other administrative documents.
- Support coordination with MOGSC members, partners, event organizers, and other stakeholders when required.
- Provide general administrative and operational support to the Secretariat and assist with other projects or initiatives as assigned.
Qualifications
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a Diploma or Degree in Business Administration, Management, Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Event Management, International Business, or a related field.
- Good written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare clear and professional emails, documents, and basic reports.
- Good organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Comfortable using Microsoft Office or similar productivity tools, particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Strong attention to detail, especially when handling data, documents, registrations, and member information.
- Willingness to learn and take initiative rather than waiting for detailed instructions.
- Able to work collaboratively and communicate professionally with colleagues, members, industry stakeholders, and external partners.
- Interest in the oil, gas, energy, business, or industry association sector is an advantage.
- Previous experience in events, communications, administration, student organizations, or project coordination is an advantage but not mandatory.
- Able to commit to full-time, on-site working hours in Kuala Lumpur.
