About Our Client

Our client is a leading international private bank with an established presence in Asia. The organisation is looking to appoint an AML Lead, Director/Executive Director based in Singapore.

This is a senior advisory role responsible for providing clear and practical AML guidance to the business, while maintaining strong oversight of complex client and financial crime matters. The successful candidate will be commercially aware, highly detail-oriented and comfortable working closely with senior stakeholders within a private banking environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the provision of AML advisory support to the private banking business

• Advise senior stakeholders and front-office teams on complex client onboarding, transaction and financial crime matters

• Review and provide guidance on higher-risk clients, source of wealth and source of funds, sanctions, PEP and other escalated cases

• Interpret regulatory requirements and translate them into clear, practical advice for the business

• Ensure AML risks are appropriately identified, assessed, documented and escalated

• Provide credible challenge while working constructively with Relationship Managers and other stakeholders

• Partner closely with Compliance, Financial Crime, Legal, Operations and business teams

• Support the development and enhancement of AML policies, controls and operating procedures

• Monitor regulatory developments and assess their impact on the bank’s AML framework and business activities

• Prepare clear documentation and communicate significant matters to senior management and relevant governance forums

Requirements

• 12–15+ years of relevant AML, Financial Crime Compliance or regulatory compliance experience within financial services

• Strong private banking or wealth management experience is essential

• Proven experience providing AML advisory support to front-office and senior business stakeholders

• Sound knowledge of client onboarding, KYC, source of wealth and source of funds, sanctions, PEP and transaction-related risks

• Strong understanding of Singapore AML regulations and regulatory expectations

• Able to assess complex cases, identify key risks and provide balanced, practical recommendations

• Highly detail-oriented, with strong documentation and follow-through

• Confident engaging and influencing senior stakeholders while maintaining independence of judgement

• Strong communication, analytical and problem-solving skills

• Regional exposure would be advantageous
