The Storage Engineer is responsible for the implementation, administration, support, and continual improvement of enterprise storage platforms supporting on-premises and cloud environments. The role requires a strong understanding of storage technologies, data protection, and infrastructure integration, with the ability to troubleshoot complex issues and contribute to technology initiatives and projects.

The successful candidate will work closely with infrastructure teams, managed service providers (MSPs), and technology vendors to ensure storage services remain reliable, scalable, and aligned with business requirements.

Job Responsibilities :

- Provide engineering and technical support for enterprise storage platforms and services.

- Assist in the evaluation and testing of new storage technologies, features, and solutions.

- Collaborate with internal teams, MSPs, and vendors to investigate and resolve storage-related incidents and problems.

- Participate in root cause analysis and problem management activities for recurring issues.

- Provide technical guidance and knowledge sharing within the infrastructure team.

- Implement, configure, maintain, and optimize storage infrastructure across on-premises and cloud environments.

- Participate in storage-related projects, upgrades, migrations, and technology refresh activities.

- Perform capacity analysis and provide recommendations to support business growth and infrastructure planning.

- Support data protection, replication, disaster recovery, and storage lifecycle management activities.

- Develop and maintain operational documentation, standard operating procedures, and technical knowledge articles.

- Monitor storage performance, availability, and utilization, and recommend improvements where appropriate.

3.Primary skill set:

Storage Specific

- Strong knowledge of enterprise storage concepts, including SAN, NAS, file, and block storage technologies.

- Hands-on experience administering NetApp storage platforms and ONTAP environments.

- Experience with storage provisioning, volume management, snapshots, replication, storage efficiency, and data protection technologies.

- Familiarity with cloud-based storage services such as AWS FSx for NetApp ONTAP (FSxN), Amazon S3, Azure Files, Azure NetApp Files, or similar solutions.

- Understanding of storage monitoring, reporting, capacity management, and performance analysis.

- Experience using NetApp management and monitoring tools such as:

- System Manager

- NetApp Console/BlueXP / Cloud Manager

- Data Infrastructure Insights (DII)

- Active IQ

SAN Infrastructure

- Working knowledge of Fibre Channel SAN environments.

- Experience managing Cisco MDS fabrics, zoning, VSAN configuration, and SAN troubleshooting.

- Understanding storage connectivity, multipathing, and high-availability concepts.

Data Protection & Recovery

- Understanding of backup, replication, disaster recovery, retention, and recovery processes.

- Knowledge of storage resiliency, business continuity, and operational recovery practices.

Documentation & Governance

- Ability to create and maintain technical documentation, implementation procedures, and support standards.

- Experience participating in change management and infrastructure governance processes.

Nice to Have skill sets : Backup Technologies - Experience with enterprise backup solutions such as:

- Commvault

- Veeam

- Veritas NetBackup

Cloud & Automation - Basic to intermediate scripting experience using:

- PowerShell

- Python

- Ansible

Familiarity with:

AWS services

Azure services

Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation)

CI/CD concepts and automation frameworks
