Business Development Executive – Trading Company

Key Responsibilities

• Develop new customers and actively generate new business opportunities.

• Conduct daily cold calling, prospecting and customer follow-ups.

• Visit customers and potential business partners when required.

• Handle both B2B and B2C customer enquiries.

• Prepare quotations, pricing proposals and sales presentations.

• Negotiate prices, payment terms and commercial conditions with customers.

• Follow up closely on quotations until orders are confirmed.

• Maintain long-term relationships with existing customers.

• Coordinate with suppliers, warehouse, logistics and delivery teams.

• Follow up on purchase orders, shipments, deliveries and outstanding customer matters.

• Source new products and suppliers based on customer and market requirements.

• Conduct competitor and market-price research.

• Maintain accurate records of leads, quotations, orders and customer communications.

• Prepare weekly sales and business development reports.

• Achieve individual monthly sales and customer-acquisition targets.

• Attend urgent customer enquiries outside normal office hours when operationally necessary.

• Perform other business development and trading-related duties assigned by management.

Working Requirements

• Must be willing to work rotational shifts that may change every week.

• Must be flexible to work weekends and public holidays when rostered.

• Working hours may vary according to operational and customer requirements.

• Must be comfortable with both office-based work and external customer visits.

• Must be willing to travel locally to meet customers, suppliers and business partners when required.

• May be required to handle urgent customer or supplier matters during peak business periods.

Candidate Requirements

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Strong negotiation and persuasion abilities.

• Confident in approaching and communicating with new customers.

• Comfortable with cold calling and direct sales prospecting.

• Strong customer-service and relationship-management skills.

• Target-driven and able to work under sales pressure.

• Able to work independently with minimal supervision.

• Good coordination and problem-solving abilities.

• Able to multitask between sales, customers, suppliers and logistics matters.

• Basic proficiency in email, Microsoft Office and preparation of quotations/reports.

• Previous experience in trading, wholesale, import/export, distribution or B2B sales is preferred.

• Candidates must be comfortable with a performance-driven environment and measurable sales targets.
