Carecom is building its loan operations function from the ground up. This role owns the loan lifecycle in full, i.e., not just origination through disbursement, but everything that happens afterwards for the life of the loan: servicing, collections, overdue management, and closure. It sits at the intersection of product, technology, credit risk, and compliance, translating regulatory obligations and day-to-day operational reality into documented, auditable, scalable processes.
This is a build role, not a maintain role: there is no existing loan operations function to inherit. Success means designing the processes through experimentation and continuous improvement, developing the platform and loan products in partnership with the Product-Technology team to prepare for operational scalability by leveraging technology.
Key Responsibilities
Loan origination operations (application → disbursement)
- Own the process operations covering the full application journey.
- Support the credit committee, ensuring every approval is properly evidenced before funds are released.
- Own the operational handling of exceptions clarification requests, manual follow-up cases, and escalations that fall outside the automated decision path.
Loan servicing operations (disbursement → closure)
- Own the full servicing lifecycle once a loan is disbursed: repayment processing, account maintenance, balance and statement generation, early settlement handling, and loan closure.
- Map and formalise the loan withdrawal (cooling-off) and legal cancellation process, ensuring compliance with FCA obligations and Consumer Duty requirements.
Default and collection efficiency
- Develop a defaults management framework covering early-warning indicators, an overdues escalation ladder, forbearance options, and write-off procedures.
- Build the operational process for identifying and supporting customers in financial difficulty or showing signs of vulnerability, consistent with Consumer Duty expectations.
- Where third-party collections agencies or debt sale is used, own the operational relationship and data-handoff process.
Risk and Compliance
- Ensure loan operations processes meet FCA CONC and Consumer Credit Act obligations throughout the lifecycle, not just at origination.
- Maintain audit-ready documentation and records retention in line with FCA record-keeping requirements.
- Partner with Compliance on the operational workflow for complaints handling, consistent with DISP requirements and timelines.
- Act as the operational owner for audit and regulatory information requests relating to loan files and servicing records.
Process design and continuous improvement
- Identify manual process gaps across the lifecycle and document interim SOPs while automation is being built, ensuring operational continuity during the pre-automation phase.
- Define operational KPIs and SLAs for every stage of the lifecycle, and report against them regularly.
- Continuously reassess processes as loan volume grows, flagging where manual handling will not scale.
Cross-functional partnership
- Work closely with the Product-Technology team to translate operational requirements into product and system improvements.
- Feed operational data and frontline insight back into credit policy and risk appetite discussions.
- Partner with Finance on reconciliation of disbursements, repayments, and write-offs.
