Research and Development Director
What You'll Do
- Guide the daily operations of the R&D Centre by fostering an efficient, standardised approach to product research and development across multiple disciplines.
- Take overall responsibility for planning R&D projects, monitoring progress, and managing execution to ensure timely delivery of high-quality outcomes.
- Drive cross-functional collaboration by unifying business requirements with technical strategies and facilitating stable project iteration cycles.
- Oversee performance appraisal processes and talent development initiatives to retain core team members while building a positive culture that supports comprehensive R&D capacity.
- Strengthen local technical leadership by mentoring team members and promoting knowledge sharing within the group.
- Define the R&D roadmap in alignment with business objectives, leading technical iteration efforts to overcome key challenges in sensor technology.
- Support long-term organisational growth by aligning technical development with broader product strategy and business goals.
- Facilitate communication between departments to ensure smooth coordination throughout all stages of project delivery.
- Champion best practices in project management systems to maintain high standards of efficiency and accountability within the team.
- Promote an inclusive environment where every team member feels valued, supported, and encouraged to contribute their expertise.
- R&D on both hardware and software within the autonomous robotics/vehicles/Industrial
What You Bring
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in engineering or related field is required for this role.
- Extensive experience in R&D across camera, optics, electronics, power, or structural engineering is essential for success.
- Familiarity with standardised project management systems used in R&D settings is expected from candidates.
- Demonstrated ability to lead end-to-end R&D teams
- Capability to define technical roadmaps, lead improvements, and resolve problems
- Experience aligning technical development with business strategy to support sustainable growth
- Outstanding interpersonal skills including empathy, dependability, collaborative spirit, and sensitivity
