About the role

At 3forge, we're building the next generation of application infrastructure for financial services, helping institutions turn complex data and workflows into enterprise production applications. As a Software Engineer, you'll join our engineering team to build and maintain the systems, tools, and infrastructure that power our platform. You'll write production code, work with data at scale, and solve technical problems across development, integration, performance, and reliability with exposure to emerging technologies including AI-enabled workflows as they evolve. This is a hands-on engineering role. You'll write code, work with data, troubleshoot systems, and collaborate closely with experienced software engineers, solution engineers and project managers.

What you'll do

Engineering

• Design, build, and maintain a state of the art platform comprising a realtime and historical database, data virtualization layer, realtime messaging, dashboarding tools, and AmiScript, our own custom scripting language.
• Work with engineers and product teams to identify bugs, new features, and reusable patterns to improve the platform.
• Contribute to the development and expansion of cutting-edge AI features and capabilities across the platform.
• Work with SQL, APIs, databases, and code primarily in Java, JavaScript, and Python.
• Diagnose application and performance issues using logs, stack traces, and other debugging tools.
• Test, deploy, and maintain applications across different environments.

Tooling & Infrastructure

• Build and maintain infrastructure for running models efficiently, including self-hosted/on-premise environments.
• Design integration layers that let internal systems and models interact with external tools, APIs, and data sources.
• Build and maintain training, evaluation, and data pipelines supporting internal tooling.
• Develop internal tooling that supports faster development, testing, and evaluation cycles.
• Explore, evaluate, and prototype new tools, frameworks, and technology to meet changing engineering demands.

Team & Development

• Work closely with other software engineers and project managers to deliver technical projects.
• Learn how complex financial applications are designed, built, and operated in production environments.
• Take increasing ownership of technical tasks and project deliverables.
• Contribute reusable code, documentation, and technical knowledge to the broader team.

What we're looking for

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience with SQL and at least one programming language such as Java, Python, JavaScript, or C++.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to read and diagnose log files and interpret stack traces.
• Ability to learn unfamiliar technologies and systems quickly.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• A proactive approach to solving problems and taking ownership of work.

Nice to have

• 1+ years of experience through internships, projects, research, or professional software/data engineering work.
• Some exposure to model training, fine-tuning, evaluation, or serving workflows.
• Experience running or integrating models outside of managed cloud APIs (self-hosted inference, on-device deployment).
• Experience building integrations between models and external tools/APIs (agent frameworks, tool-calling systems, or similar).
• Familiarity with APIs, databases, cloud environments, or distributed systems.
• Strong mathematical or statistical skills.
• Exposure to financial markets, trading, risk, portfolio management, or other financial workflows.
• Technical writing or documentation experience.
