About Us

We're NUS Enterprise, the innovation and entrepreneurship heart of the National University of Singapore (NUS). We back bold ideas and ambitious talent with the potential to build impactful companies that transform the way we live, play, and work —and we're just getting started.

As our innovation ecosystem continues to grow in scale, complexity, and ambition, we are building a team of experienced commercialisation professionals capable of structuring and negotiating transactions that balance commercialisation success, fair market value, and long-term stewardship of public-sector innovation assets.

The Role

The Specialist, IP Transactions is responsible for executing standard commercialisation transactions involving university intellectual property using approved transaction frameworks, licensing pathways, and agreement templates.

Working closely with inventors, founders, industry partners, and commercialisation teams, this role guides stakeholders through approved licensing pathways, facilitates efficient transaction execution, and helps ensure the consistent application of institutional commercialisation frameworks.

Success requires strong transaction management skills, sound judgment, and the ability to apply and advocate for established licensing principles while recognising when strategic review or escalation is required.

What You'll Do

  • Assess opportunities against established licensing pathways and determine the appropriate transaction framework
  • Structure, negotiate, and execute standard licenses, options, assignments, technology transfer agreements, and other commercialisation transactions using approved transaction frameworks, templates, and negotiation parameters
  • Develop and finalize term sheets and definitive agreements within established commercial, governance, and approval frameworks
  • Guide inventors, founders, licensees, and other counterparties through approved licensing pathways and transaction processes from initiation through execution
  • Educate inventors, founders, and other stakeholders on licensing principles, transaction frameworks, and approved commercialisation pathways
  • Identify opportunities requiring non-standard structures, customised economics, significant stewardship considerations, or other departures from approved pathways and escalate them appropriately
  • Support governance, approval, documentation, and execution processes for commercialisation transactions
  • Maintain accurate transaction records and documentation in accordance with organisational standards
  • Contribute to the refinement of transaction templates, workflows, playbooks, and operational practice

Please be informed that only shortlisted candidates will be notified.

Requirements

What You Bring

  • 5+ years of experience supporting, negotiating, structuring, administering, or executing intellectual property, technology licensing, commercialisation, contract management, legal operations, technology transfer, or other transaction-oriented agreements
  • Experience supporting or executing intellectual property licensing transactions, research commercialisation agreements, strategic partnerships, or related transactions
  • Ability to apply, communicate, and defend established transaction frameworks and licensing pathways while identifying opportunities that require strategic review or escalation
  • Familiarity with intellectual property commercialisation, licensing economics, and common transaction structures
  • Ability to work effectively within agreement templates, transaction frameworks, and governance processes
  • Strong organisational, stakeholder management, and transaction management skills
  • Excellent communication skills and a reputation for professionalism, responsiveness, and attention to detail

Bonus Points For

  • Experience working with startup founders, venture-backed companies, SMEs, or innovation-driven businesses
  • Familiarity with university technology transfer, research commercialisation, public-sector innovation, or similar stewardship-oriented environments
  • Experience working with agreement management systems, contract lifecycle management platforms, or workflow management tools
