Applications are invited for the vacant position of 19 Squadron – Butterworth Formation Welfare Bookkeeper with 19 Squadron Royal Australian Air Force at RMAF Base Butterworth, Penang with a starting salary of RM 4250.00 per month.
Basic duties:
The Formation Welfare Bookkeeper is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records for the Formation Welfare Fund. The role includes recording income and expenditure, processing payments and reimbursements, reconciling accounts, maintaining cashbooks and spreadsheets, and ensuring all transactions are supported by appropriate documentation. The Bookkeeper prepares regular financial reports for the Welfare Committee and Chain of Command, supports audits and inspections, and ensures compliance with relevant financial policies and procedures. The employee must demonstrate integrity, attention to detail, confidentiality, and strong organisational skills while supporting the effective management of welfare funds for Australian personnel and their families.
Tasks of the 19 Squadron – Butterworth Formation Welfare Bookkeeper are to:
1. Maintaining the Welfare cashbook;
2. reconciling the cashbook to the bank statement on a monthly basis;
3. ensuring that all receipts have issued from the approved receipt books;
4. managing the safe custody and filing of paid vouchers;
5. read the Welfare Minutes to ensure observance of all financial requirements;
6. providing advice to the WELFO and the SADFO, through the Treasurer on all financial aspects of welfare and club activities; and
7. preparation of financial statements monthly as requested by the OIC or Treasurer
8. Utilise single entry accounting methods to maintain records and accounts
9. Understand the Air Force Non Public Monies Manual requirements and comply in accordance with the policy.
10. Liaise with Affin Bank regarding our local welfare account and process cheque payments and cash advances as required.
11. Manage and oversee merchandise orders, purchases and accounting for all Australian units at Butterworth.
Essential requirements:
1. Finance bookkeeping experience
2. Understanding of financial compliance and recordkeeping
3. Ability to understand policy and apply it to the organisation and requirements
4. Microsoft Excel competence and ability to maintain, update and develop spreadsheets.
Desirable Requirements:
1. Defence Protected Network access and associated systems
2. Baseline security clearance – obtain and hold.
