We are looking for a highly skilled Senior Front-End Web Developer with strong WordPress expertise to join our team and take ownership of the development, performance, and ongoing improvement of our websites and WordPress-based digital platforms.

Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site role in Greater Kuala Lumpur for a Senior Front-End Web Developer specialising in WordPress.

The primary focus of this position is front-end web development within the WordPress ecosystem. You will be responsible for building modern, responsive, high-performance websites and interfaces while developing and customising WordPress themes, templates, components, and functionality.

You should be highly confident working directly with HTML, CSS, SCSS/Sass, JavaScript, PHP, and WordPress, rather than relying exclusively on page builders or pre-built themes.

The ideal candidate understands WordPress at a development level and is capable of creating custom themes and, when required, custom plugins. However, the majority of the role will focus on front-end development, UI implementation, website performance, responsiveness, and maintaining a high-quality user experience across devices.

You will work closely with our design, marketing, product, and development teams to convert designs and business requirements into production-ready websites and digital experiences.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain modern, responsive, high-performance WordPress websites.
• Build custom WordPress themes from designs, wireframes, and UI specifications.
• Develop and customise WordPress templates, components, sections, and reusable functionality.
• Build or modify WordPress plugins when custom functionality is required.
• Write clean, structured, maintainable HTML5, CSS3, SCSS/Sass, JavaScript, and PHP.
• Convert Figma or other design files accurately into responsive web pages.
• Develop reusable front-end components and maintain consistent design systems.
• Work with the WordPress Gutenberg/Block Editor, custom blocks, and modern WordPress development practices.
• Work with WordPress Full Site Editing, custom post types, taxonomies, hooks, filters, and template hierarchy where required.
• Integrate APIs and third-party services into WordPress websites.
• Ensure websites are fully responsive across desktop, tablet, and mobile devices.
• Maintain compatibility across major browsers and operating systems.
• Optimise websites for speed, Core Web Vitals, SEO, accessibility, and usability.
• Diagnose and resolve front-end, WordPress, plugin, CSS, JavaScript, and compatibility issues.
• Maintain clean Git-based development workflows and participate in code reviews.
• Evaluate and adopt appropriate new technologies, frameworks, and development practices that improve WordPress-based web development.
• Work closely with UI/UX designers to ensure accurate implementation of designs.
• Maintain existing websites while continuously improving their structure, performance, security, and user experience.
  

Qualifications

• Strong professional experience in WordPress development.
• Advanced knowledge of HTML5 and CSS3.
• Strong experience with SCSS/Sass and modern CSS architecture.
• Strong JavaScript skills and familiarity with modern JavaScript development.
• Experience developing custom WordPress themes from scratch.
• Ability to develop, customise, and troubleshoot WordPress plugins.
• Good working knowledge of PHP, particularly within WordPress.
• Strong understanding of WordPress architecture, including:
• Theme hierarchy
• Hooks and filters
• Custom post types
• Custom taxonomies
• Gutenberg / Block Editor
• Custom blocks
• WordPress REST API
• Full Site Editing and modern WordPress capabilities
• Experience with responsive and mobile-first development.
• Ability to accurately convert Figma/UI designs into production-quality websites.
• Strong understanding of cross-browser compatibility and responsive behaviour.
• Experience with Git and version-control workflows.
• Understanding of website performance optimisation and Core Web Vitals.
• Knowledge of technical SEO and web accessibility standards.
• Familiarity with modern front-end technologies and frameworks used alongside WordPress.
• Experience with tools or technologies such as React, TypeScript, Tailwind CSS, Bootstrap, ACF, npm, Vite/Webpack, or similar modern development tools is highly beneficial.
• Ability to troubleshoot complex WordPress and front-end problems independently.
• Strong attention to detail, particularly around spacing, typography, responsiveness, and consistency with UI designs.
• Ability to write clean, reusable, well-structured, and maintainable code.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with designers, developers, marketing, and product teams.
• Ability to work on-site in Greater Kuala Lumpur.

A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Web Development, or a related field is preferred; however, strong practical WordPress and front-end development experience and a high-quality portfolio are more important than formal qualifications.

You should be comfortable working directly with code, building custom solutions, understanding how WordPress works internally, and producing modern websites that are fast, responsive, maintainable, and visually polished.

A portfolio demonstrating custom WordPress development and strong front-end implementation skills will be highly regarded.
