Network Engineer

Location: Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Network Engineer with strong hands-on expertise in enterprise networking, network security, data centre infrastructure and network operations.

The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, monitoring and maintaining enterprise network infrastructure across multiple locations and cloud environments. The role will focus on ensuring reliable connectivity, high availability, network security and optimal performance across the organisation's infrastructure.

The candidate will also support network automation, incident management, performance reporting, vendor coordination and continuous improvement of network services.

Key ResponsibilitiesEnterprise Network Architecture & Management

• Design, implement and maintain enterprise routing, switching and Wireless LAN (WLAN) environments across multi-site architectures.
• Manage enterprise network infrastructure to ensure high availability, performance and reliability.
• Configure and maintain routing, switching, network segmentation and connectivity across multiple environments.
• Support data centre network infrastructure and related network technologies.

Network Security

• Administer and maintain firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS and Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA) solutions.
• Configure and manage network access control lists (ACLs) and micro-segmentation.
• Support network security policies, access controls and security compliance requirements.
• Troubleshoot and resolve network security and connectivity issues.

Cloud & Hybrid Connectivity

• Deploy and manage hybrid and cloud network connectivity across enterprise environments.
• Support technologies such as AWS Direct Connect, Azure ExpressRoute and cloud network integrations.
• Manage VPC/VNet connectivity, peering and related cloud networking components.
• Support SD-WAN implementations and connectivity for remote offices and sites.

Network Monitoring & Performance

• Monitor network availability, performance, bandwidth utilisation and capacity.
• Prepare regular network operational and performance reports.
• Track SLA and KPI metrics including uptime, bandwidth utilisation, capacity and link redundancy.
• Identify network performance issues and recommend improvements.

Automation & Scripting

• Develop and maintain automation scripts using Python, Ansible or Terraform.
• Automate network device provisioning, configuration management and monitoring activities.
• Use network automation and orchestration tools to improve operational efficiency.
• Support automation through technologies such as NETCONF, RESTCONF and CLI scripting.

Incident Management & Troubleshooting

• Act as an L2/L3 escalation point for complex network incidents and outages.
• Troubleshoot routing issues, connectivity problems, performance bottlenecks and network failures.
• Perform detailed Root Cause Analysis (RCA) following major incidents.
• Use packet analysis and troubleshooting tools such as Wireshark when required.
• Prepare and maintain troubleshooting procedures, SOPs and technical documentation.

Vendor & Infrastructure Lifecycle Management

• Coordinate with Internet Service Providers (ISPs), network hardware vendors and technology partners.
• Manage network hardware lifecycle activities, firmware upgrades and infrastructure maintenance.
• Support circuit renewals, network upgrades and infrastructure expansion activities.
• Work with vendors including Cisco, Palo Alto and Arista where required.

Job Requirements

• Minimum 5 to 8+ years of relevant experience in enterprise networking, network security or infrastructure operations.
• Strong hands-on experience with enterprise network infrastructure.
• Advanced knowledge of BGP, OSPF, SD-WAN and firewall administration.
• Experience with network monitoring, telemetry and performance management.
• Hands-on experience with Python, Ansible, Terraform or network automation.
• Strong troubleshooting and Root Cause Analysis capabilities.
• Experience handling L2/L3 network escalations and major incidents.
• Good understanding of cloud and hybrid networking environments.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
• Willing to work in Kuala Lumpur.

Preferred Certifications

Relevant industry certifications will be highly preferred, including:

• CCNP Enterprise / CCNP Security
• PCNSE
• AWS Certified Advanced Networking
• ITIL Foundation
• Other relevant networking, cloud or security certifications
