Our client is large commodities trading houses with a global footprint. This new role will focus on credit (aging analysis, practical risk mitigation, right sizing exposure and tenor, credit worthiness assessment of counterparty - with or without access to customer's financials), counterparty (contract performance risk, M2M calculation and review, mitigation) and currency risk (operational exposure required to run the business, currency volatility assessments, nuances of operational currency exposure calculations for a physical commodity business).
The Job:
The successful candidate will be responsible for monitoring credit, counterparty, currency and market risk exposures, ensuring compliance with exchange position limits and regulatory reporting obligations, supporting risk governance processes and driving automation and continuous improvements in risk and compliance reporting.
- Consolidate, monitor and report position exposure, Value-at-Risk, mark-to-market exposure, currency exposure and credit aging.
- Monitor approved limits, identify overdue positions, exposure breaches and limit exceptions, and escalate material risk events with stakeholders on mitigation actions.
- Support the annual risk budget exercise, periodic risk analytics activities, risk dashboards and Board Risk Committee reporting materials.
- Monitor exchange position limits and trading exposures against approved exchange thresholds, ensuring compliance with applicable commodity exchange rules and market conduct requirements.
- Perform trade reconciliations and ensure timely submission of trade reporting files to MAS.
- Support hedge exemption applications, reviews and related compliance monitoring activities, while providing market compliance guidance and advisory support to Business Units.
- Identify reporting gaps and enhancement opportunities through engagement with Business Units, and partner with Technology teams to automate manual risk and compliance reporting processes.
- Drive improvements in reporting quality, efficiency and data integrity across risk and compliance reporting.
- Build strong working relationships with Business Units, Country, Finance and IT teams, providing timely risk analysis, compliance support, training and advisory on trading risk, market compliance and regulatory obligations.
The Talent:
- Experience in commodity risk management
- Strong understanding of credit, counterparty, currency and market risk
- Strong data analytics, reporting capabilities, advanced Excel and reporting tool skills, with the ability to partner effectively with business, country, finance, IT and technology stakeholders.
