NIMBUS is developing a new digital platform for the Malaysian market and is looking for a capable Full-Stack Web Developer to help take the platform from its current MVP stage to a robust, scalable product.

An initial version has already been developed, and we are now looking for someone to take ownership of the technical development — improving the UI/UX, workflows, integrations, performance, security and underlying architecture, while preparing the platform for significant future growth.

This is an opportunity to join a project at an early stage and have genuine input into how the technology, user experience and infrastructure develop.

• Improve the platform’s UI, UX and overall design.
• Identify and resolve existing bugs and technical issues.
• Develop and improve both front-end and back-end functionality.
• Strengthen APIs, integrations, databases and automated workflows.
• Develop location-based functionality, including interactive mapping, geolocation and radius-based search.
• Optimise speed, reliability, security and scalability.
• Ensure the platform can handle increasing levels of traffic and user interaction.
• Review the existing technical architecture and recommend improvements.
• Manage deployment, version control and ongoing technical development.
• Translate business requirements into practical technical solutions.
• Work independently and proactively identify opportunities to improve the platform.
  

Essential

• Strong full-stack web development experience.
• Proficiency in HTML5, CSS3 and JavaScript/TypeScript.
• Experience with modern front-end frameworks such as React, Next.js, Vue or similar.
• Back-end development experience using Node.js, Python, PHP or similar.
• Strong understanding of REST APIs and third-party integrations.
• Experience working with databases, including PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB or similar.
• Experience with Git/GitHub and version control.
• Experience deploying and maintaining web applications using platforms such as Netlify, Vercel, AWS or similar.
• Strong understanding of responsive web design and mobile-first development.
• Knowledge of web security, authentication, data protection and common web vulnerabilities.
• Understanding of performance optimisation and scalable web architecture.

Desirable

• Experience with geolocation and mapping APIs, such as Google Maps, Mapbox or OpenStreetMap.
• Experience developing location-based or radius-based search functionality.
• Experience with user accounts, profiles, authentication and permissions.
• Experience developing advanced search, filtering and sorting systems.
• Experience integrating payment gateways and payment/subscription workflows.
• Experience with *************, Zapier or similar automation platforms.
• Strong UI/UX development skills.
• Experience with analytics, event tracking and user behaviour tools.
• Experience building platforms designed to scale significantly in users, traffic and data.
  

We’re looking for someone who can do more than simply write code. You should be comfortable taking an existing MVP, understanding how it works, identifying weaknesses and helping shape the technical direction of the product.

You should be:

• A strong independent problem solver.
• Comfortable working with an existing codebase and improving it.
• Able to work with limited supervision and take ownership of deliverables.
• Commercially minded and able to understand the business objective behind the technology.
• Comfortable working directly with a non-technical founder/CEO.
• Able to communicate technical issues and solutions clearly.
• Detail-oriented, particularly around security, reliability and user experience.
• Comfortable working in a fast-moving, entrepreneurial environment.
• Able to document systems and processes clearly for future development.

2–5+ years of professional web development experience is preferred, although we are more interested in demonstrable ability and relevant experience than simply the number of years on a CV.

A degree or diploma in Computer Science, IT or a related discipline is advantageous but not essential.

We’re looking for a strong, experienced developer who can take ownership of the project and work independently, acting as our primary technical resource. While we don’t currently have an in-house IT team, we’re open to bringing in additional specialist support where the project requires it.

The initial engagement will be milestone-based, with clear deliverables and scope agreed upfront. There is strong potential for the relationship to develop into ongoing development work or a longer-term retainer as the platform grows.

This is a paid contract opportunity, with compensation structured around agreed project milestones and deliverables.

We are open to discussing the appropriate fee structure based on the developer’s experience, technical expertise and proposed scope of work.

The initial project will be milestone-based, with the potential for ongoing paid development, extensions and/or a longer-term retainer following successful completion of the initial phase.
