Job Summary
The Berthing Attendant coordinates and oversees vessel mooring and unmooring operations at the berth to ensure safe and efficient vessel handling and smooth maritime operations.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate mooring and unmooring activities to secure vessels safely during berthing and departure
- Handle mooring lines and secure vessels to the berth following safety procedures
- Communicate clearly with vessel crew, pilots, and operational teams to facilitate smooth mooring operations
- Oversee the connection and disconnection of loading arms, gangways, and other berthing equipment to ensure safe handling
- Stand by during berthing operations to provide immediate assistance when needed
- Monitor berth operations continuously to identify and report safety hazards or operational concerns
- Follow all safety regulations and protocols related to berth operations and report incidents or unsafe conditions promptly
- Assist with routine berth inspections and maintenance activities as directed by the supervisor
- Perform other berth-related duties assigned to support operational readiness
Preferred competencies and qualifications
- Prior experience in marine or port operations
- Basic knowledge of mooring and berthing procedures
- Ability to communicate effectively and collaborate within a team
- Physical fitness to perform mooring operations and work outdoors
- Willingness to work shifts, including weekends and public holidays
- Willingness to work at Jurong Island
