The Research Administration Department is seeking a highly motivated Manager/Senior Manager to join the Technology Development & Commercialization (TD&C) team. Reporting to the Director, TD&C, the successful candidate will play a pivotal role in advancing translational research and commercialization initiatives within a leading Academic Medical Centre.

This position serves as the critical link between scientific research and commercial impact, driving a portfolio of diagnostic technologies from invention and validation through intellectual property protection, market adoption, strategic partnerships, and commercialization. The role requires strong commercialization expertise, stakeholder management capabilities, and a deep understanding of the healthcare research and innovation ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities

1.Portfolio Management & Commercialization Strategy

• Manage and develop the institution's diagnostics portfolio, identifying opportunities to maximize clinical, strategic, and commercial value.
• Conduct market landscape assessments, competitive analyses, technology benchmarking, and commercial due diligence to support commercialization decisions.
• Evaluate the commercial potential and market readiness of diagnostic technologies through preliminary valuation and business case analyses.
• Advise investigators and project teams on commercialization pathways, intellectual property strategies, market access considerations, and translational development plans.
• Support the development of competitive grant proposals by incorporating commercialization milestones, regulatory considerations, and IP strategies.
• Identify and secure relevant public funding opportunities, including grants from NMRC, A*STAR, Enterprise Singapore, and other funding agencies.
• Maintain oversight of commercialization-related KPIs and prepare reports for institutional leadership and funding agencies.

2.Intellectual Property & Contract Management

• Review invention disclosures in collaboration with the SingHealth Intellectual Property Office and provide commercialization recommendations.
• Participate in intellectual property strategy discussions, including patent filing decisions, licensing approaches, and portfolio management.
• Lead or support the negotiation, drafting, review, and execution of commercial agreements, including licensing agreements, research collaborations, confidentiality agreements, and technology transfer arrangements.

3.Partnership Development & Stakeholder Engagement

• Establish and maintain strong relationships with clinicians, researchers, institutional and cluster stakeholders, industry partners, and ecosystem agencies.
• Represent the institution at industry events, forums, and stakeholder engagements to enhance the visibility and commercial potential of the institution’s research and innovation portfolio.

Key Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Sciences, Engineering, Biotechnology, Business, or a related discipline. Postgraduate qualifications (Master's, MBA, PhD, or equivalent) will be advantageous.
• Minimum 6 years of relevant experience in technology commercialization, technology transfer, business development, venture creation, intellectual property management, or related fields.
• Candidates with at least 8 years of relevant experience and demonstrated leadership in commercialization activities will be considered for the Senior Manager position.
• Excellent analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving capabilities.
• Self-driven, resourceful, and able to work independently while collaborating effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
• Proven ability to manage multiple complex projects and stakeholders in a fast-paced environment.
• Demonstrated understanding of diagnostics development, medical technologies, or digital health solutions.
• Familiarity with healthcare, medical device, and diagnostics regulatory frameworks will be advantageous, including ISO 13485 and ISO 15189, Health Care Services Act (HCSA), CAP/CLIA accreditation requirements, Good Clinical Practice (GCP) guidelines, medical device regulatory pathways (eg. HSA, FDA, CE marking).
