About the Role

Reporting to the NPI Manager, he/she is responsible for leading the setup overhaul capability of new landing gear programs and System Equipment. This role ensures new products are industrialized efficiently, compliant with regulatory and OEM requirements, and smoothly transitioned from engineering release to operation production. The NPI Engineer acts as the key interface between Product Engineering, Process Engineering, Operations, Quality, Supply Chain, and Customers during the new program introduction

Responsibilities

1) Program & Stakeholder Management

• Lead NPI setup activities for new landing gear, System Equipment from kick-off to production stabilization.
• Act as the primary technical focal point coordinating Engineering, Production, Quality, Planning, Supply Chain, and external stakeholders.
• Define NPI scope, milestones, risks, and deliverables aligned with customer and contractual requirements.

2) Engineering & Technical Industrialization

• Review OEM CMMs, Airbus overhaul requirements, SBs, ADs, drawings, and engineering data for applicability to MRO capability.
• Work with product and process engineer to translate engineering and customer requirements into routings and work instructions.
• Manage engineering change incorporation during NPI phase.

3) Process Development & Production Readiness

• Work with operations to define overhaul process flow, inspection and acceptance criteria, special process requirements, and repair schemes.
• Work with process engineering team for process risk assessments and ensure mitigation actions are implemented.
• Identify tooling, fixtures and test equipment requirements.
• Support operation or product engineer to qualify identified tooling, fixture and test equipment during FAI phase.
• Validate with operation on capacity, takt time, manpower, and skill readiness prior to induction.

4) Quality, Compliance & Certification

• Work with compliance team to apply the authority approval , e.g. CAAS, EASA, FAA, etc…
• Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions for quality or technical issues after FAI.

5) Production Support & First Article Inspection (FAI)

• Support operation for FAI.
• Drive stabilization and formal handover to Operations teams.

6) Supply Chain & Vendor Interface

• Support qualification of suppliers for outhouse process.
• Coordinate for vendor audits, and special process validations.

7) Risk & Continuous Improvement

• Support material controller provisioning for new programs.
• Identify cost reduction, repair development, and standardization opportunities.
• Capture lessons learned and best practices for future NPI programs.

Job requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Manufacturing Engineering (or equivalent)
• Strong understanding of landing gear systems and System Equipment overhaul / repair / testing
• Familiarity with MRO overhaul processes including inspection, repair, assembly, and testing.
• Minimum 3-5 years of experience in Landing Gear MRO, aerospace manufacturing, or aviation maintenance engineering
• Proven experience in new program introduction, industrialization, or major product transfer within aviation industry.
• Hands-on experience supporting shop-floor activities during pilot or FAI
• Experience working with OEMs, customers, and regulatory authorities (EASA/FAA)
• Strong knowledge of EASA/FAA Part 145 requirements and MRO quality systems
• Working knowledge of CMMs, SBs, ADs, and engineering orders
• Familiarity with special processes such as HVOF, chrome, nickel plating, shot peening, NDT, heat treatment, and painting.
• Experience with root cause analysis, 8D, and continuous improvement methodologies
• Lean, Six Sigma, or equivalent CI certification is an advantage
• Strong project management and stakeholder coordination skills
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence across functions
• Structured problem-solving mindset with strong attention to detail
