Overview

We are hiring a VP, Software Engineering for an established organisation in Singapore. You will lead teams responsible for building and improving business-critical applications, while remaining closely involved in technical design and engineering decisions.

This role suits an engineering leader who enjoys developing teams, improving how software is delivered, and taking responsibility for systems throughout their lifecycle.

Responsibilities

• Lead multiple software engineering teams and take accountability for the quality, reliability and delivery of their work.
• Work with business and technology stakeholders to define priorities, plan delivery and resolve competing requirements.
• Guide system design and architecture decisions, including the assessment of technical trade-offs.
• Support the development and improvement of applications and platforms, while addressing technical debt.
• Strengthen engineering practices across development, testing, deployment, monitoring and production support.
• Develop team capability through hiring, coaching and performance management.
• Help teams respond to significant production issues and identify lasting improvements.
• Communicate delivery progress, technical risks and investment needs to senior stakeholders.

Requirements

• Experience leading software engineering teams in a large or complex organization.
• Strong software engineering background with Java experience and the ability to engage in detailed discussions about system design and implementation.
• Experience designing or improving distributed applications and APIs.
• Sound understanding of software delivery practices, automated testing, CI/CD and production operations.
• Ability to balance delivery needs with reliability, security and long-term maintainability.
• Experience developing engineers and working with stakeholders across different functions.
• A relevant degree or equivalent practical experience.
