To provide technical, laboratory and field support for the Company's electroplating chemicals and surface-finishing products, ensuring customers achieve stable plating performance and product quality. The position will also support chemical analysis, troubleshooting, product development and technical documentation.
1. Customer Technical Support
- Provide technical support to customers using the Company's electroplating chemicals.
- Visit customer plating facilities when required to inspect plating lines, tanks, operating conditions and chemical dosing systems.
- Assist customers in establishing and maintaining appropriate plating bath operating parameters.
- Monitor and advise on:
- Chemical concentration
- pH
- Temperature
- Current density
- Voltage
- Plating time
- Anode condition
- Agitation
- Filtration
- Bath contamination
- Assist customers in chemical bath make-up, replenishment and chemical dosing.
- Provide recommendations to improve plating quality, productivity and bath stability.
- Attend to customer complaints and investigate plating defects.
2. Plating Bath Analysis
Conduct routine laboratory analysis of customers' plating baths and Company's chemical products, including where applicable:
- Metal concentration
- Free acid
- Total acid
- Free alkalinity
- Total alkalinity
- pH
- Specific gravity
- Chemical concentration
- Additive concentration
- Conductivity
- Chloride and other contaminants
- Other parameters required for specific plating processes.
Maintain proper records of all analytical results and report abnormal results promptly.
3. Electroplating Troubleshooting
Investigate plating defects such as:
- Poor adhesion
- Burning
- Roughness
- Pitting
- Blistering
- Peeling
- Uneven plating
- Poor coverage
- Colour variation
- Staining
- Low plating efficiency
- Excessive deposit thickness
- Poor corrosion resistance
- Poor salt-spray performance
Identify possible causes and recommend corrective actions.
The technician should distinguish whether the problem is related to:
Chemical → Bath condition → Equipment → Process → Material → Pre-treatment
rather than automatically assuming that the chemical is the cause.
4. Laboratory Responsibilities
- Carry out laboratory testing of raw materials, finished products and plating baths.
- Prepare chemical solutions and laboratory samples accurately.
- Conduct titration and other wet-chemical analyses.
- Maintain laboratory equipment and ensure instruments are properly calibrated.
- Prepare test panels and conduct laboratory plating trials.
- Record test conditions and results accurately.
- Maintain laboratory chemicals, reagents and reference standards.
- Follow laboratory safety procedures and chemical handling requirements.
5. Product Development & R&D
Assist the Company in:
- Developing new electroplating chemicals.
- Improving existing formulations.
- Conducting laboratory trials.
- Evaluating alternative raw materials.
- Comparing Company's products against competing products.
- Developing replacement products for imported/commercial plating chemicals.
- Optimising product performance and cost.
- Conducting stability tests.
- Establishing product specifications and QC test methods.
6. Production & Quality Support
Work closely with production and QC personnel to:
- Establish production specifications.
- Verify raw-material quality.
- Check finished-product quality.
- Investigate production deviations.
- Provide technical instructions for chemical preparation.
- Assist in troubleshooting production problems.
- Ensure products meet agreed specifications before release.
7. Customer Trial & Product Introduction
- Support product trials at customer facilities.
- Prepare trial plans and technical recommendations.
- Monitor trial results.
- Collect customer feedback.
- Prepare trial reports.
- Recommend adjustments to formulation or operating parameters.
- Assist the sales team in technically presenting products to customers.
8. Technical Documentation
Prepare and maintain:
- Technical Data Sheets (TDS)
- Safety Data Sheets (SDS), where required
- Product specifications
- Certificate of Analysis (COA) requirements
- Laboratory test procedures
- Bath analysis reports
- Customer trial reports
- Troubleshooting reports
- Chemical dosing instructions
- Technical recommendations.
9. Sales Technical Support
Work closely with the sales team to:
- Provide technical information for quotations.
- Recommend suitable products for customer applications.
- Attend customer meetings where technical knowledge is required.
- Support new customer development.
- Conduct product demonstrations and technical presentations.
- Identify opportunities for new products and applications.
10. Technical Service Records
Maintain proper records of:
- Customer visits
- Customer complaints
- Bath analysis
- Chemical consumption
- Trial results
- Corrective actions
- Product recommendations
- Follow-up activities.
Customer technical information must be treated as confidential.
Pay: RM3,000.00 - RM5,000.00 per month
Experience:
- Electroplating Industry : 3 years (Preferred)
