POSITION SUMMARY:
A senior-level technician responsible for executing quality assurance activities across the Penang Media Operation, covering inspection, compliance auditing, calibration, training & certification, system administration, and team support. The role is critical to maintaining product quality and regulatory compliance within FQA operations, is expected to work independently and serve as a quality reference for shift operations and new personnel.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Inspection & Product Quality
- Conduct inspection on returned FG (Media, Bag, Carton, or Pallet) and ad-hoc impacted FG, with accurate disposition and documentation per quality standards.
- Perform Out-of-Box (OBA) Audits on FG to verify packaging integrity, labeling, and product conformance prior to shipment.
- Execute FG Archive activities per established retention and traceability procedures.
- Support Physical Inventory (PI) Count activities.
2. Quality System Administration
- Maintain quality records and trackers on relevant platforms and Quality Management Systems (e.g., eNCS, eChecklist), ensuring data integrity and accessibility for audit and review purposes.
- Update documents and procedures in Agile in alignment with engineering changes (WDITR), process improvements, or audit findings.
3. Compliance & Audit
- Perform compliance audits on production lines to verify adherence to SOPs, work instructions, and quality requirements.
- Conduct HIRADC audits on the FQA workplace to identify and mitigate occupational health and safety risks.
- Coordinate sampling submission activities, ensuring correct sample selection, labeling, and handoff to the designated laboratory or inspection team.
4. Calibration, Certification & Training
- Perform VI eyeball calibration to maintain consistency in defect recognition among VI operators.
- Conduct VI operator recertification assessments and maintain certification records to ensure ongoing competency and qualification compliance.
- Conduct Quality Awareness orientation briefings for new support track/DL hires.
Remark: Additional ad-hoc tasks and assignments may be given from time to time based on operational needs and business priorities.
REQUIRED:
- Diploma or equivalent in Engineering, Science, or a related technical discipline.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in manufacturing quality or operations.
- Proficient in English (written and spoken) & Bahasa Malaysia (spoken) with effective communication skills for briefings and training.
- Willingness to work shift and overtime in support of 24/7 manufacturing operations when required.
- Willingness to work across different Penang Media Plant locations as needed.
- Comfortable working in a controlled environment with cleanroom garments and PPE requirements in designated working area.
PREFERRED:
- Experience in HDD/media or electronics manufacturing.
- Experience with Oracle or MES systems.
SKILLS:
- Working knowledge of Quality Management Systems, inspection methods, audit frameworks, and Visual Inspection (VI), including defect recognition, calibration, and operator assessment.
- Proficient in MS Office.
- Detail-oriented and quality-driven; able to work independently across shifts and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
