Role Overview
We are seeking a
Senior Java Backend Developer
with
6+ years of hands-on software development experience
to design, build, and support high-throughput, mission-critical digital banking applications for
DBS Bank
. The candidate will be key to architecting microservices ecosystems, building distributed backend services, and securing high-volume transactional systems using
Java

Spring Boot
, and cloud-native frameworks. Prior development experience in a retail, corporate, or FinTech banking domain is strictly required.
Key Responsibilities
Microservices Development:
Architect, build, and deploy resilient, loosely coupled backend microservices using
Java (11/17)
and
Spring Boot
.
API Integration:
Design and implement RESTful APIs, SOAP web services, and API Gateways for seamless integration with DBS core banking systems and third-party financial services.
Event-Driven Architecture:
Implement event streams, asynchronous processing, and message queues using
Apache Kafka
,
RabbitMQ
, or
IBM MQ
.
Data Persistence & Security:
Manage data models across relational (Oracle, PostgreSQL, MariaDB) and NoSQL (MongoDB, Redis) databases using JPA/Hibernate, maintaining strict encryption at rest and in transit.
Banking Security Compliance:
Integrate Spring Security, OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, JWT, and mTLS protocols to comply with MAS (Monetary Authority of Singapore) and bank threat-mitigation standards.
Performance Tuning & Debugging:
Perform thread analysis, memory leak fixes, DB query optimization, and latency tuning using tools like Apache JMeter and APM monitors.
CI/CD & DevOps Automation:
Collaborate in an Agile/Scrum squad setup to run continuous integration/delivery pipelines using Git, Jenkins, Bitbucket, Maven/Gradle, SonarQube, Docker, and Kubernetes.
Mandatory Experience & Qualifications
Experience:
Minimum
6+ years
in enterprise-level Java backend software development.
Domain Expertise:
Must have prior hands-on experience in Banking or Financial Services (BFSI)
, working on domain features such as payment gateways, core banking, trade finance, credit cards, or digital transfers.
