Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Hardware System Architect to lead the architecture, design, and validation of complex electronic hardware systems. The ideal candidate will be responsible for translating product requirements into robust hardware architectures, driving board-level design decisions, and providing technical leadership across electrical, PCB, mechanical, thermal, and verification domains.
This role requires deep expertise in high-current analog designs, power delivery systems, precision measurement circuits, multi-layer PCB development, and cross-functional collaboration to deliver production-ready hardware solutions.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. System & Board Architecture
- Translate business and technical requirements into scalable hardware architectures.
- Define subsystem partitioning, interfaces, and integration strategies.
- Review and optimize existing prototype concepts and hardware solutions.
- Lead architecture reviews and technical design discussions.
- Provide guidance on system-level trade-offs, reliability, manufacturability, and performance optimization.
- Collaborate with firmware, software, mechanical, and validation teams to ensure seamless system integration.
2. Electrical Hardware Design
Own the end-to-end design and development of complex electronic systems, including:
- High-current analog circuitry
- Power delivery and power management circuits
- Precision measurement and sensing circuits
- Signal conditioning circuits
- Control and feedback circuitry
- Communication and interface circuits
Additional responsibilities:
- Component selection and qualification
- Obsolescence management
- Alternative component and second-source recommendations
- Design optimization for cost, performance, and manufacturability
Target hardware platforms include:
- Load Cards
- Summing Boards
- ICC Boards
- DCC Boards
- Transient Boards
- Adapter Boards
- Interposer Boards
3. PCB Design & Layout Oversight
- Lead multi-layer PCB architecture and layout reviews.
- Ensure optimal high-current routing and power integrity.
- Drive signal integrity and noise reduction strategies.
- Address EMI/EMC compliance requirements during design.
- Review designs for DFM (Design for Manufacturability) and DFA (Design for Assembly).
- Ensure compliance with design rules and industry standards.

4. Mechanical Design Collaboration
Provide technical leadership and support for:
- Load Box Design
- Control Box Design
- PCB Packaging and Enclosures
- Mounting and Fixture Systems
- Cable Management and Routing
- Serviceability and Field Maintenance Considerations

- Mechanical CAD Models
- Engineering Drawings
- Fabrication Packages

5. Thermal Engineering
- Perform thermal architecture planning and analysis.
- Develop thermal models for power-dense designs.
- Recommend and optimize cooling strategies.
- Design and evaluate heatsinks and thermal solutions.
- Drive airflow optimization and thermal risk mitigation.
- Conduct thermal simulations and validation.
6. Design Verification & Debug Support
Support the complete product development lifecycle through:
- Hardware design reviews
- Verification and validation planning
- Test strategy and test plan creation
- Hardware characterization and performance analysis
- Root-cause analysis and failure investigation
- Debugging complex hardware issues
- Engineering Change Order (ECO) implementation and management
- Production and field issue support
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Computer Engineering or any related Engineering Discipline.
- 10+ years of experience in hardware system architecture and electronic product development.
- Proven experience designing complex board-level systems from concept through production.
- Experience leading cross-functional engineering teams and design reviews.
