Java Developer

Location: Bendemeer
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM
Employment Type: 1-Year Contract
Salary: $5,500 - $6,000

Job Summary

As a Java Developer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, testing and implementing high-quality business solutions for NEC Asia Pacific Pte Ltd and its clients. You will work with project teams, architects and senior developers to understand client requirements and deliver suitable IT solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and test web applications using Java technologies.
• Design, develop and unit test applications according to established standards.
• Assist senior developers in analysing and resolving technical issues.
• Support the preparation of technical manuals, specifications and documentation.
• Package applications and support deployment releases.
• Develop, refine and optimise integrations between applications.
• Assist in gathering and documenting user requirements, developing user stories and preparing project estimates.
• Work with project teams to understand client needs and support solution development.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Associate Degree in IT, Computer Science, Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum 3 years of software development experience preferred.
• Proven hands-on experience as a Java Developer.
• Strong knowledge of Java/J2EE development.
• Experience with Java frameworks/SDK and front-end or back-end development.
• Strong database/RDBMS development experience with relevant databases such as Oracle, MS SQL, MySQL or MongoDB.
• Good understanding of REST, RPC, APIs, MVC architecture and Hibernate.
• Experience with JavaScript and client/server scripting frameworks such as Angular.js, Knockout.js, Node.js or React.js.
• Good understanding of software development methodologies, testing practices and tools.
• Knowledge of web application security standards and techniques.
• Understanding of browser compatibility issues.
• Strong troubleshooting, communication and problem-solving skills.
• Good attention to detail and ability to work effectively under tight deadlines.

• Experience deploying applications on AWS or other cloud platforms.
• Experience working with Agile methodologies.
• Experience in Java-based mobile application development.
• Experience with .NET development.
• Knowledge of usability-focused software design and implementation.
