As Project Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for the preparation, execution and close-out of mechanical work packages for FPSO life extension, overhaul, repair and recertification activities. The role combines engineering expertise with hands-on shipyard supervision, acting as the designated Mechanical Work Package Owner and ensuring that all activities are delivered safely, effi-ciently and in accordance with project requirements.

You will prepare and manage life extension yard work packages covering the overhaul and recertifi-cation of existing mechanical equipment on the FPSO. During the shipyard phase, you will supervise execution of these scopes, coordinate with contractors and shipyard disciplines, resolve technical is-sues and ensure that work is completed to the required quality, schedule and cost.

Key Responsibilities

• Act as Mechanical Work Package Owner for assigned FPSO overhaul, life extension, repair and recertification scopes from engineering preparation through execution, mechanical completion and close-out.

• Develop detailed yard work packs, including scope definition, drawings, specifications, mate-rial requirements, inspection and testing requirements, method statements and completion documentation.

• Provide hands-on technical supervision of mechanical work scopes within a shipyard envi-ronment, ensuring work is executed safely, efficiently and in accordance with approved engi-neering and project requirements.

• Coordinate daily with shipyard supervisors, contractors, subcontractors, engineering teams, inspection personnel and project management to ensure effective execution of work packag-es.

• Monitor work progress, identify potential delays and technical constraints, and implement practical solutions to maintain project schedule and productivity.

• Review and approve technical solutions, repair methods, modifications and maintenance scopes in accordance with applicable regulatory, class and company standards.

• Support mechanical completion, punch-list management, commissioning, testing and final handover of completed work scopes.

• Prepare and supervise overhaul, inspection, NDT, pressure testing, leak testing, FAT and recertification activities for mechanical equipment and piping systems.

• Ensure compliance with DNV Class requirements, applicable legislation, engineering stand-ards, HSE requirements and company procedures.

• Provide technical leadership, coaching and mentoring to engineers, supervisors, new staff and offshore personnel.

• Support troubleshooting, condition monitoring and root cause analysis for mechanical equip-ment and systems.

• Maintain effective relationships with clients, shipyard personnel, suppliers and contractors to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery.

• Contribute to HSE, quality assurance and continuous improvement initiatives throughout the shipyard execution phase.

Technical Expertise

• Extensive experience with rotating machinery, including gas turbines/generators, gas com-pressors, diesel engines, electric generators, pumps and cranes.

• Strong knowledge of mechanical integrity, piping systems, valves, flange management and associated inspection and testing requirements.

• Experience with pipe and vessel repair methods, material selection, NDT requirements and pressure/leak testing.

• Experience preparing and witnessing equipment Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT).

• Experience with equipment preservation, including static and rotating equipment, and prepa-ration of preservation strategies and procedures.

• Experience supporting FPSO decommissioning, disconnect and yard mobilisation activities.

• Experience developing and implementing condition monitoring, maintenance, inspection and procurement strategies.

• Proven ability to troubleshoot complex mechanical issues and develop fit-for-purpose repair and modification solutions.

• Experience working within a regulated offshore/shipyard environment with strong focus on mechanical integrity and process safety.

Requirements & Qualifications

·        FPSO project experience

·        North Sea Oil & Gas experience

·        Experience supporting an operational FPSO asset

• Minimum 10 years of professional experience as a Mechanical Engineer, preferably within the offshore oil & gas, FPSO, marine, EPC or shipyard industry.

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent recognised engineering qualifica-tion.

• Proven experience as a Mechanical Work Package Owner or Mechanical Engineer responsible for work package execution on major offshore, FPSO, marine or shipyard projects.

• Demonstrated hands-on shipyard experience, including supervision of contractors and sub-contractors during overhaul, repair, modification, fabrication, installation, testing and com-missioning activities.

• Strong experience with FPSO upgrades, life extension, overhaul, maintenance, repair and/or recertification projects.

• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary EPC/project environment and coordinate mechanical activities with structural, piping, electrical, instrumentation, commis-sioning and HSE disciplines.

• Strong knowledge of DNV Class requirements, mechanical integrity standards and applicable offshore/marine regulations.
