Roles & Responsibilities

About the Role

We are seeking a Lead / Principal Database Migration Architect to lead the modernisation of mission-critical enterprise database platforms as part of a large-scale transformation programme.

You will define the end-to-end migration strategy for complex Oracle environments, ensuring data integrity, high availability, and minimal business disruption while establishing a scalable foundation for future platforms.

Key Responsibilities

• Define and lead the end-to-end database migration strategy for a large-scale platform transformation.
• Analyse legacy Oracle databases, schemas, and business logic to design modern target architectures.
• Lead migration planning for Oracle RAC environments, including cutover, rollback, and validation strategies.
• Design and implement data migration, ETL/ELT, validation, and reconciliation frameworks.
• Ensure data quality, performance, security, and operational resilience throughout the migration lifecycle.
• Partner with architecture, engineering, and business teams to deliver successful platform migration.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in enterprise database architecture, database modernisation, or large-scale data migration.
• Deep expertise with Oracle Database, including Oracle RAC in production environments is a must.
• Strong knowledge of Oracle RAC, Data Guard, ASM, RMAN, SQL optimisation, and database performance tuning.
• Experience migrating large-scale Oracle transactional databases to modern database platforms.
• Hands-on experience with ETL/ELT, data validation, reconciliation, and Change Data Capture (CDC) technologies.
• Experience with PostgreSQL, Amazon RDS, Aurora PostgreSQL, or similar cloud database platforms is advantageous.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.

Preferred

• Experience with Oracle Exadata.
• Experience delivering zero- or near-zero-downtime database migrations.
• Knowledge of cloud-native architectures, distributed systems, and event-driven platforms.
• Oracle certifications (OCP/OCM) are a plus.
