Job Summary:

A Mainframe Physical DBA is responsible for the physical design, administration, performance, availability, and maintenance of databases running on mainframe systems.

Key knowledge areas include:

• DB2 for z/OS architecture and administration
• Database, table space, index, and storage management
• DB2 utilities such as REORG, RUNSTATS, COPY, RECOVER, and LOAD
• Backup, recovery, and disaster recovery procedures
• Performance monitoring and tuning
• SQL and DB2 troubleshooting
• JCL and mainframe batch processing
• VSAM and mainframe storage concepts
• Access/security and database maintenance
• Capacity planning and space management
• Production support and incident troubleshooting
