Craft Culinary Excellence with Velvet!

Velvet is looking for a passionate and motivated Commis to join our kitchen team at Velvet Cinemas, Sunway 163 Mall, Mont Kiara. This role is ideal for individuals who enjoy working in a dynamic kitchen environment and want to develop their culinary skills while supporting smooth daily kitchen operations.

As a Commis, you will assist the kitchen team in food preparation, maintain cleanliness and food safety standards, and ensure consistent food quality aligned with the Velvet Cinemas dining experience.

Key ResponsibilitiesKitchen Operations & Food Preparation

• Assist in basic food preparation including cutting, chopping, marinating, and plating.
• Follow recipes, portion control, and presentation standards set by the kitchen.
• Support chefs during service to ensure timely and efficient food production.
• Ensure food quality and consistency before dishes are served.

Hygiene, Safety & Quality Control

• Maintain cleanliness of workstations, kitchen equipment, and storage areas.
• Comply with food safety, hygiene, and sanitation standards at all times.
• Ensure proper food handling, labeling, and storage practices.

Operations Support & Teamwork

• Assist with receiving, storing, and rotating kitchen stock.
• Help minimize food wastage and report shortages or issues to the supervising chef.
• Work closely with kitchen team members to ensure smooth daily operations.

Other Duties

• Perform any additional kitchen-related or ad-hoc tasks assigned by the Sous Chef or Superior.

Requirements & Experience

• 1–2 years of experience in kitchen or F&B operations.
• Experience in Western Cuisine is an added advantage.
• Experience in café, restaurant, or food service operations is preferred.
• Contract Duration: 3 Months

Technical / Special Skills

• Basic knowledge of food preparation and kitchen operations.
• Understanding of food safety and hygiene standards.
• Ability to follow instructions and recipes accurately.
• Good teamwork and communication skills.
