Position: Manager, Finance

Location: Kuala Lumpur Department: Finance & Accounting Reporting To: CFO / Finance Director / CEO

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Finance Manager with strong accounting knowledge to oversee the company's finance function and ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.

The ideal candidate should have a solid understanding of accounting and be able to review and manage a proper set of accounts, prepare financial reports and financial statements, and provide meaningful financial insights to management.

This role is suitable for a finance professional who is strong in both finance and accounting, with the ability to translate financial information into useful business insights.

Key Responsibilities

Finance & Accounting

• Oversee the day-to-day finance and accounting functions of the company.
• Ensure proper maintenance and accuracy of the full set of accounts.
• Review General Ledger (GL), Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR) and bank reconciliations.
• Oversee month-end and year-end closing activities.
• Ensure all financial transactions are properly recorded and supported by relevant documentation.

Financial Reporting

• Prepare and review monthly management accounts and financial reports.
• Prepare and review Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow statements.
• Ensure financial reports are accurate, timely and presented in a clear manner.
• Present financial results and key financial information to management.
• Highlight significant variances, financial risks and areas requiring management attention.

Financial Analysis

• Analyse financial performance, revenue, expenses, profitability and cash flow.
• Conduct actual vs budget/forecast variance analysis.
• Identify financial trends and provide recommendations to improve business performance.
• Support management with financial analysis and ad-hoc reports when required.

Budgeting & Forecasting

• Assist in preparing annual budgets and financial forecasts.
• Monitor actual performance against budget and forecast.
• Work with relevant departments to understand and manage costs.
• Provide financial input for business planning and decision-making.

Cash Flow Management

• Monitor the company's cash flow and liquidity position.
• Prepare cash-flow forecasts and monitor cash inflows and outflows.
• Monitor receivables, payables and working capital.
• Ensure sufficient cash availability for business operations.

Audit, Tax & Compliance

• Coordinate with external auditors, tax agents and other external parties.
• Ensure proper preparation of audit schedules and supporting documents.
• Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards, tax requirements and statutory regulations.
• Maintain proper financial records and internal controls.

Team Management

• Manage, supervise and develop the Finance & Accounting team.
• Review the team's work to ensure accuracy and timely completion.
• Provide guidance on accounting and finance-related matters.
• Improve finance and accounting processes where necessary.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline.
• Minimum 5–8 years of relevant experience in finance and accounting.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
• Must have experience handling or reviewing a full set of accounts.
• Able to prepare and review financial statements and management accounts.
• Good understanding of P&L, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow.
• Experience with month-end and year-end closing.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Good Microsoft Excel and accounting system/ERP knowledge.
• Good communication and presentation skills, with the ability to present financial information to management.
• Able to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
• Experience managing a finance/accounting team is an advantage.
• Professional accounting qualification such as ACCA, CPA, CIMA, MIA or equivalent is an advantage.
