The Group Accounting Manager is responsible for managing the accounting, reporting and finance operations of the Group’s headquarters entities across Singapore and Malaysia.

This role supports accurate and timely financial reporting, intercompany recharges, treasury related activities, funding arrangements, statutory audit, budgeting, roll out of finance policies and finance system-related activities.


The role reports to the Group Financial Controller and works closely with the Group Consolidation Manager, Business Units, and other corporate functions to ensure that HQ-related accounting activities are properly controlled, well-documented, and aligned with Group policies and reporting timelines.


Job Requirement


HQ Accounting and Month-End Closing

  • Own the full set of accounts for assigned HQ legal entities in Singapore and Malaysia
  • Ensure timely and accurate month-end, quarter-end and year-end closing
  • Review journal entries, accruals, prepayments, intercompany transactions and other closing adjustments
  • Ensure balance sheet schedules, reconciliations and supporting documents are properly prepared and reviewed
  • Monitor and resolve long outstanding items, reconciling differences and unusual account movements
  • Ensure accounting records are maintained in accordance with Group policies, statutory


Intercompany Recharges, Funding and HQ Responsibilities


  • Manage HQ-related intercompany transactions, including management fees, shared service costs, staff cost recharges, corporate cost allocations and other Group recharges
  • Work with Business Units to validate recharge basis, supporting documentation and settlement timelines
  • Support Group funding arrangements, including intercompany loans, cash advances, settlements and funding requests
  • Coordinate with Business Units on HQ cost recovery, cross-charging and related accounting treatments
  • Ensure intercompany balances are reconciled and cleared on a timely basis


Financial Reporting, Audit and Compliance


  • Prepare and review monthly financial reports, management schedules and reporting packs for assigned entities
  • Support the Group Consolidation Manager in providing timely and accurate information for Group reporting, audit, budgeting and forecasting
  • Prepare statutory financial statements and supporting audit schedules for Singapore and Malaysia entities where applicable
  • Liaise with external auditors, tax agents, corporate secretarial service providers and other professional advisors
  • Support annual statutory audit and ensure audit queries are addressed promptly and properly
  • Assist with tax, GST/SST, withholding tax and other compliance matters in coordination with relevant advisors or internal stakeholders


Budgeting, Forecasting and Management Support


  • Support the budgeting and forecasting process for HQ entities and corporate cost centres
  • Work with the Group FC, Group Consolidation Manager and Business Units to prepare HQ cost budgets, recharge assumptions and forecast updates
  • Track actual results against budget and provide variance explanations for HQ costs and assigned entities


Finance Systems, Process Improvement and Controls


  • Support finance system-related activities impacting HQ entities, including chart of accounts, cost centres, intercompany setup, reporting structures and workflow improvements
  • Work with the Group Consolidation Manager and system/process owners to ensure accounting and reporting requirements are properly reflected in the finance system


Team Supervision and Stakeholder Management


  • Supervise, guide and review the work of two Finance Executives
  • Provide coaching and ensure clear allocation of responsibilities within the HQ accounting team
  • Work closely with Business Units, corporate functions and finance teams across the Group


Requirements

  • Degree in Accountancy, Finance or equivalent; professional accounting qualification such as CA Singapore, ACCA, CPA or equivalent preferred
  • Strong understanding of financial accounting, statutory reporting and internal controls
  • At least 10 years of relevant finance and accounting experience, including managing full sets of accounts for multiple legal entities
  • Audit experience is preferred but not a must.
  • Experience in group or HQ finance environments, with Singapore and Malaysia entities, statutory audit and tax compliance preferred
  • Prior supervisory experience is desirable; experience with ERP or finance system implementation, process improvement or finance transformation projects is an advantage
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge and ability to apply accounting standards in practical business situations
  • Good understanding of intercompany accounting, recharges, cost allocations and balance sheet reconciliations
  • Strong Excel and financial analysis skills, with familiarity with ERP systems and finance reporting tools
  • Good working knowledge of audit, tax and statutory compliance requirements, and ability to document processes, controls and accounting positions clearly
  • Strong ownership mindset, attention to detail, problem-solving ability and willingness to improve processes
  • Able to manage multiple deadlines across month-end closing, audit, budget and ad hoc business requests, while working independently and collaborating effectively with Group and BU finance teams
  • Good stakeholder management and communication skills; able to coach junior team members and maintain accountability for team deliverables
