Job Summary
We are seeking a highly experienced Data Architect with a strong background in relational databases to lead a strategic data transformation initiative within the insurance domain. This role will drive the migration of legacy systems from IBM DB2 to AWS-based platforms, particularly PostgreSQL, ensuring high performance, scalability, and data integrity.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and drive end-to-end data architecture strategy for enterprise systems
- Lead database migration from IBM DB2 to AWS (PostgreSQL), including planning, design, and execution
- Design conceptual, logical, and physical data models aligned with business needs
- Ensure data consistency, integrity, security, and governance across platforms
- Optimize database performance and scalability in AWS environments
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (data engineers, developers, business stakeholders)
- Establish architecture standards, best practices, and frameworks
- Perform impact analysis, risk assessment, and mitigation planning for migration activities
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to data engineering teams
Key Requirements
- 10+ years of experience in Data Engineering, with at least 3 years in a Data Architect role
- Strong hands-on expertise in relational databases (IBM DB2, PostgreSQL preferred)
- Proven track record in large-scale data migration projects, especially to AWS
- Strong knowledge of data modeling, database design, and performance tuning
- Hands-on experience with AWS data services (RDS, Aurora, DMS; Redshift is a plus)
- Solid understanding of ETL/ELT processes and data integration
- Experience in the insurance or financial services domain is highly preferred
- Knowledge of data governance, compliance, and security frameworks
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work with senior stakeholders
