At Hyarks, our autonomous surface vessels (USVs) work in tandem with aerial systems (UAVs) to extend sensing, communication, and operational reach in complex maritime environments. We are looking for a UAV Engineer to take full ownership of our USV–UAV coordination logic and make multi-agent operations truly bulletproof.

In this role, you will be the technical lead for the air component of our systems, bridging simulation and field reality.

• Simulation & Pipeline Development: Build, stress-test, and benchmark the USV–UAV coordination pipeline in simulation; systematically identify failure modes and validate challenging edge cases.

• Hardware Integration & Field Tuning: Transition software pipelines from simulation directly to physical drone hardware; tune, iterate, and validate system reliability under real-world maritime conditions.

• Full-Stack Drone Autonomy: Configure flight controllers, develop robust mission logic, refine state estimation, and build reliable communication and interface layers between surface and aerial platforms.

• Cross-Disciplinary Collaboration & Technical Ownership: Partner closely with controls and software engineering teams while owning technical decision-making and architectural direction for the UAV stack.

• Hands-on UAV Experience: Proven track record of developing, configuring, and deploying software on physical UAV platforms (not just in simulation).

• Autopilot Ecosystems: Strong hands-on experience with PX4 or ArduPilot (including configuration, PID tuning, and custom module/driver development).

• Robotics & Middleware: Proficiency with ROS / ROS 2 for system integration, along with a solid grasp of flight controller architectures and MAVLink protocol communication.

• Software Development: Solid programming proficiency in C++ and Python.

• Simulation-to-Hardware Workflow: Experience building and working in simulation environments (e.g., Gazebo, AirSim, or similar) and successfully porting models and controllers to actual flight hardware.

• Systematic Debugging: Demonstrated ability to root-cause, diagnose, and resolve reliability and fail-safe issues in autonomous systems under tight iteration cycles.

• Relative Navigation & Precision Landing: Experience with vision-based relative navigation, visual servoing, or autonomous precision landing on dynamic/moving platforms.

• Perception & Spatial Transforms: Hands-on experience with onboard perception pipelines and 3D coordinate frame transformations.

• Multi-Agent Systems: Background in multi-robot coordination, cooperative robotics, or distributed communication schemes.

• Challenging Environments: Familiarity with GNSS-denied navigation, state estimation fusion (EKF/UKF), or robust RF link management in marine/offshore environments.
