This role is posted on behalf of Rolo Robotics, a startup supported by SGInnovate.
Rolo Robotics is a small development team in charge of development and deployment of production-ready machines for F&B automation. We are looking for a core member to join our software team that is responsible for the entire stack, from embedded control all the way to cloud application. Tell us what you are good at and what you want to get better at. We will figure out the rest together.
That could include:
- Embedded & Machine Control - firmware for the food-prep machines, sensor integration, motor and actuator control, hardware bring-up and debugging.
- Robot Arm - motion sequences, pick-and-place routines, calibration, error recovery.
- Machine Intelligence - camera-based detection that drives real decisions on the machine. Business logic decision making based on historical data.
- Kiosk Software - the on-device orchestration layer that coordinates the arm, the machines, and the order queue, and keeps running when something goes wrong.
- Cloud & Fleet Management - backend services for telemetry, remote configuration, OTA updates, alerting, and multi-tenant access for third-party operators.
- Web Apps - internal support tooling and operator-facing dashboards.
- Everything in between - APIs, CI/CD, test rigs, tooling that makes the above less painful.
- Intelligent Robots - For more elaborate central kitchen workflow, from traditional pick and place to manipulation.
What we're looking for:
- Strong engineering fundamentals and the ability to go deep in at least one area.
- Willingness to cross boundaries. If the bug is in the firmware and you're a web developer, we want you curious rather than blocked.
- Comfort debugging systems where the failure might be software, a loose connector, or a sticky ingredient.
- Pragmatism. We ship real machines that real customers stand in front of.
- Ownership and clear communication - small team, lots of autonomy.
- Ability to ask the right questions and explore solutions based on product needs.
Helpful, but not required:
- C++
- Python
- TypeScript/React
- Linux
- RTOS
- Serial/CAN/Modbus
- MQTT
- AWS/GCP, Docker
- OTA update systems
- Robot arm SDKs
- Hardware-in-the-loop testing or experience with regulated/food-safety environments
