Backend Engineer

Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced Backend Engineer to build and maintain Python-based backend systems that process IFC files and support AI-powered development workflows.This role will also involve deploying applications on AWS, building infrastructure using IaC tools, and setting up CI/CD pipelines. The ideal candidate is technically strong, comfortable working with modern DevOps practices, and eager to learn domain-specific concepts related to Building Information Modeling (BIM).

What You Will Be Working On

·      Build and maintain Python backend applications to receive and process IFC files.

·      Develop AI-powered development pipelines to implement 3D building model checks.

·      Review, audit, and refactor AI-generatedcode as part of the engineering workflow.

·      Deploy applications on AWS using Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform.

·      Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines on GitLab.

·      Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable, scalable backend solutions.

What We Are Looking For

·      Strong proficiency in Python and relational databases such as PostgreSQL.

·      Familiarity with AI-powered development pipelines.

·      Experience with AWS services andIaC tools such as Terraform.

·      Familiarity with DevOps best practices and building CI/CD pipelines on platforms such as GitLab.

·      Understanding of, or willingness to learn, Building Information Modeling (BIM) concepts and IFC standards.

·      Knowledge of computational geometry is a plus.

Preferred Skills

·      Experience building scalable backend services and APIs.

·      Exposure to cloud-native applicationdeployment.

·      Strong debugging, problem-solving, and code review skills.

·      Ability to work independently andcollaborate effectively in a team environment.

·      Interest in applied AI and automation within software engineering workflows.

Key Responsibilities

·      Design, develop, and maintain backend services in Python.

·      Process and validate IFC file data reliably and efficiently.

·      Support AI-assisted engineering workflows and review generated code for correctness and quality.

·      Implement and manage cloud deployments onAWS.

·      Develop and maintain infrastructure usingTerraform.

·      Create and improve CI/CD pipelines usingGitLab.

·      Ensure backend solutions are secure,maintainable, and scalable.

·      Learn and apply BIM/IFC domain knowledge to technical implementation.
