Principal Software Developer - Human Resource Product

Are you an experienced software developer ready to take on a leadership role in driving innovation and technical excellence? We are looking for a Principal Software Developer to help shape the future of TechnologyOne's Human Resource product. You'll architect, develop, and enhance enterprise-grade, cloud-native solutions that simplify complex HR processes and deliver exceptional experiences for our customers.

As a Principal Software Developer, you will play a key role in the research, design, and development of innovative Human Resource solutions. You'll work closely with Product, Architecture, Development, and other cross-functional teams to solve complex technical challenges and deliver high-quality, scalable, secure, and customer-focused software.

You'll also help shape how AI and AI-assisted development can be practically applied across the Human Resource product and engineering lifecycle, from improving engineering productivity and solution design to enhancing product capabilities and customer outcomes.

What you'll be doing …

• Architect and design scalable, secure, high-performing, and reliable software solutions that support the vision and roadmap of the Human Resource product.
  

• Lead technical research and development initiatives, staying ahead of industry trends, emerging technologies, AI capabilities, and modern software development methodologies to continually enhance our HR product.
  

• Drive best practices in coding, software design, system architecture, and modern cloud-native development, delivering simple, elegant, and robust software that aligns with product requirements and customer needs.
  

• Explore and champion the practical, well-governed application of AI, AI-assisted development, and AI agents to improve product capabilities, engineering productivity, automation, and customer outcomes, applying appropriate security, oversight, and accountability when incorporating AI-generated outputs.
  

• Work closely with Product Development teams to understand requirements and overcome complex technical challenges.
  

• Actively participate in product showcases to demonstrate new capabilities and educate stakeholders on technical developments.
  

• Mentor and guide developers through hands-on coaching and technical reviews, fostering a culture of technical excellence, high engineering standards, and continuous learning.
  

• Contribute to software testing and quality practices, providing feedback to continuously improve the Human Resource product.
  

• Ensure compliance with relevant security, work health and safety, and software development standards.
  

Your Talents …

• Strong expertise in C# .NET, React, AWS, and cloud-native development.
  

• Solid knowledge of SQL and NoSQL databases.
  

• Hands-on experience with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
  

• Proven experience in software development, architecture, and technical leadership within enterprise software environments.
  

• Strong understanding of, or experience working with, Human Resource, HR, Payroll, or enterprise people-management software, with an appreciation of HR processes and customer needs.
  

• Practical experience using AI tools and AI-assisted development in professional software engineering, with a demonstrated ability to apply AI-generated outputs to improve solution design, code quality, testing, automation, and customer outcomes, using sound technical judgement, security, governance, and oversight.
  

• Understanding of AI agents, AI-enabled development workflows, or emerging AI technologies and their practical application within software engineering is highly regarded.
  

• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  

• Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking abilities.
  

• A passion for continuous improvement, emerging technologies, and building innovative solutions that improve the experience of organisations and their people.
